If it has been your experience thats fine. I cannot argue what you have experienced and I won't. Still, I will take that with a grain of salt as I have a hard time believing it.
You had to do some serious work to fit 35's in the truck. But I will certainly agree that it costs less since the starting price on the gladiator is so high.

Correct so why did you say 37s? And yes and I stand by that I wheel with one all the time, he's pulling cable in the same places I do, it's not driving anything I can't or vice versa. So whats your point. I have pics, you have....opinion

Check out my thread, I really didnt have to do much. Minor trimming and a CMC, granted I did more support upgrades like spindles, gears etc but my buddy Brian did way less. He just through them on and wheeled.

Joe, quit assuming others just have opinion because they don't have pics. I have witnesses at MOAB and Canyonlands. In fact I did most of it with my wife and kids in the jeep.

Thanks for the link though. I wanna see how you got the 35's to fit. I am still not going to 35's, but I like seeing what others do.

You have Tacoma fanboy syndrome. No experienced off roader would argue a the ifs setup in a Tacoma will outperform a solid axle when it comes to serious trails. It’s not that hard. Your anecdotal experience doesn’t mean jack. It will be easier to get a rubi on 37’s to the top of the rubicon trail than an ifs taco. Also it makes a difference that the Tacoma you have to jump through many more hoops to fit 33’s and up than a keep. Especially if you want to maintain the comfort and control of the IFs.

I used to live in Denver. I’ve done a fair amount of wheeling there in both Jeep’s and my Tacoma on 33’s in CO.

HAHA called it, Black bear pass KNEW it.

Those are fun trails. I ran most of those in a stock Tacoma..

I definitely have a better understanding of your perception in this conversation.

Joe, I am reading through your thread. If you had a shop do all that work I am betting the total cost will be north of 6k. The body work alone is likely to be 2k in labor. Assuming shop hour rate of $100, which is low these days, 20 hours to do the body is a good number. Then the suspension to go with it and the install. On the other hand, I spent, a total of 2k and got 35's in there and could have easily done 37's. You are definitely doing more work. But very cool, that you did that. Good job.

My trimming was literally 30 minutes with a Dremel.

So the second post "Advanced Trimming", is the more hard core mods. I didnt have to do any of that thats just what other members did. I added that in case anyone was looking to do the same. I dont think anyone wastes their time with shops..

You think holy cross is a beginner trail? How about iron chest, SOB, chinaman gulch, carnage canyon? Like how you picked one trail lol

Carnage is legit, I wont run that in a Taco and I honestly only see buggies in there. China Wall, Red Cone and your passes I ran stock, beautiful drives, more scenic byways than offroad trails

I ran carnage in my buddy’s rubi on 37’s. Would never take my truck there. Yes you can run those other passes in a stock taco but you will be scraping skids, ask me how I know. Different strokes for different folks. I was more scared running radical hill than the rubicon or cross. Probably because of the 1000 foot drop that will end your life even though it’s not technically challenging.

Ya we definitely have different expectations/definitions of off-road. You probably wont see a JT in Carnage any time soon which is exactly my point but when you do, let me know, I want to see it.
