@tombiosis Sounds like try Cap it. If they can't assist, let me know. Like I mentioned we do ship to Canada.

@Kingair84 @minium @rickc5 - Would you be happier with an additional 1/2" or even 1" length on the cap - or is this not an issue in your view?

What are your thoughts on the overall fit of the cap?

@OffroadAlliance.com (I believe you do fitment in house, so you likely have seen a few) - And any other owners out there, please feel free to chime in...

I really like the cap, but the issue of back & forth fitment seems to pop-up. I hope it is only an issue of low tolerance on fit and not a case of missing a few milimeters - Not having seen one in person; it is my concern.

    Thanks in advance.

Honestly I don’t see any issue with the fit whatsoever. I think it fits perfect for what it is (a rigid metal topper on truck with a non square tailgate). I wouldn’t have even thought twice about it before people started commenting. It fits solid, seals tight, and is tough as hell. Not to mention it doesn’t look like an old man topper. Just my opinion tho.

Does the RSI cap completely cover the rear tailgate like some fiberglass covers? No. Does it fit properly and look good on the Tacoma? Yes. We've installed these caps on Superduties, Raptors, Tacomas, Rams, and even had a guy drive from Chicago down to our shop in Houston in his brand new Gladiator so we could install it for him. We even installed one on our newest shop truck, well Jeep, we like them so much. They're a great cap.

I'm happy with the way the cap fits now. Another 1/2" or 1" wouldn't make me any happier. It might look slightly better, or maybe not. So I guess it's not an issue for me.

The cap lines up with the bed lines, it's only when you are looking down at the tailgate that there is a visible gap. When I saw it in pictures I first thought it was odd. When I installed it, I saw the reasoning and it looks great, haven't thought about it since.

    non issue.

My take on a couple things:

    1. Early release of these caps apparently were an inch short, so some of the promotional pictures showed the cap on a Tacoma with a shortage on the tailgate. I think this planted the seed of it still being a problem.

    2. Because the cap doesn’t fit over the bed rails like a molded fiberglass shell, it doesn’t necessarily have a static placement. Sitting on top of the rails means the installer can have it sitting shifted a little forward, or a little back. Having had a softopper, this is the same conversation on all those threads. Softopper mounts the same way, and some people install it forward, some back, and then the same conversation comes up about if it fits properly or not.

For me it’s an aesthetic thing, doesn’t impact function at all.

Well I’d have to say my biggest let down about this topper is the positive pressure air vent. Living up north I have to wash the salt off my truck weekly in the winter with a car wash. This vent makes the topper completely non-water tight. I emailed RSI they sent a video showing to block the corners with butyl tape. Well that doesn’t work. I’ll have to block entire vent with butyl tape to seal it. Completely defeating the point of the vent. I guess since there is no dust in winter this will just have to be the case, and hand wash in summer. I’m curious what heavy rain will do. Pretty big design flaw if you ask me. Hopefully they come up with a better fix as I would expect more from a topper upwards of 4K.

RSI produces the Evo sport in black, and the Evo adventure in white. I hope for a EvoSport in white with gullwing & rear doors in black. Or the other way, an EVOa with glass gullwing & rear doors.

Either way, a hybrid of existing components, nothing actually new.
Wish I knew someone on the inside at RSI...

Both EvoA and EvoSport are black, the EvoC i think is the only one that currently comes in white.

Oops, that’s correct. An EvoC with glass gullwing doors. That’s what I hope becomes available somehow.

I will say this. If you are on the fence NOW is the time to buy one. Today was like an online auction, I watched 5' sport caps disappear off the order screen before I could get my order key punched for my store. Thankfully I was able to get others ordered. OA might be your only source for those otherwise we can help with others. It may be 45-60 days before we see another shipment. Just some insider info for you.

We have been using the Front Runner load bars. Load bars were not in this last shipment.

The Evo Sport is matte black, same as the Evo Adventure. The Evo C or Commercial is the all white cap. It does have gullwing side panels, but they are solid not glass

    Correct

Here's @Dr. Cornwallis Evo C that he posted back on post #465

After seeing other pictures of the gap between the cap and the cab (I didn't do the install), I loosened the 6 bolts clamping the cap on to the rails and slid it back. I noticed there is a lip on the back side, so I slid it back until it sat against the lip. There are visible lines on the bed rails and tailgate that the cap body lines now match up to.

    Additional pics:

    https://imgur.com/h6HSsJ4
    https://imgur.com/nTTvqhW

So, one thing I noticed when I was cinching down the bolts, the tailgate side (both passenger and driver side) were narrower than the cab side. The bed width from passenger to driver side is 55" near the cab, and 54" across near the tailgate.

I've had this truck for 4 years, so it could have gotten wonky anytime during that time but just noticeable now that I have a cap on it.

Any other cap owners out there interested in measuring for me, I'm curious if it's just me. Also curious if bed stiffeners would help. Or maybe this doesn't matter at all.
