G’morning mark, get any grass showing yet? Already planning on seeding/treating the yard early spring. But got some ways to go with snow melt. Enjoy your day

There are a few spots where the grass is starting to show. I'll put down dome seed in areas where the snow plow tears up the yard but that's about it. When you build your house in what was a hay field...surrounded by hay fields...it's aspirational to think you'll have a manicured lawn. I go for green and mostly grass.

:rofl:I would like to cut down on the clover. I treated last year. Well “fed” the lawn and it got green for sure! Now thinking of weed and feed the front yard. Got some holes to fill in as well. We’ll see how far I get with this. I’m always thrown off on how much treating your yard can cost :anonymous:

I cut over 7 acres so treating it all would be crazy. Lynn and I talked last week about treating the area around the house a bit this year to cut down on the clover and dandelions....but we have an apiary and the bees love them. I'll follow the guidance of our new Master Gardner. As they say, Happy Master Gardner, Happy Life. :D

Yes I would follow the wife’s advise for sure:thumbsup: I have the garden out back and the clover can stay out back :D

I'd rather have clover in the yard than grass tbh. Grass as we use it is 100% not natural. It's also mostly in general an invasive species and doesn't contribute at all to the local ecosystem.

Clover on the other hand as previously mentioned is absolutely loved by bees. It's also low maintenance as in general it doesn't grow above a couple of inches tall.

Congrats to Lynn, now I have a question and want the advice of a master!! I want to relocate 3 Japanese maple trees , when should I dig up and move ? They r about 10 years old . I think I know enough to orient them the same direction, any more tips? I want to make one of those raised landscape clusters with some bushes , large rocks then mulch , so I would be dropping the maples in fresh loose top soil. Any tips? Thanks in advance.

Water, water water. You can’t ‘drown’ a plant when in the outside soil. Water water water....
When you think it’s enough water, water it more.

    Happy TGIF PA TW Folks.
Congats to Lynn Mark. My motto for lawns was "If it's green it gets mowed". Didn't really pay much attention to weeds, clover, crab grass etc. All looked green and trim when mowed.
Have fun at the mall John. Nice car show and inside so rain (or snow) or shine people can come admire some nice vehicles. Enjoy.
Have a great day folks and be safe.

Well, she hasn't gotten her official grade, yet...

She said that Japanese maples are very sensitive. You shouldn't move any tree unless it is dormant...and there is a good chance that trees in your area are already coming out of dormancy. She suggested trimming them back lightly this year to allow the root ball to gain strength and then move them this fall after all the leaves have dropped.

She also said that you might really want to consult an arborist - you can find an arborist in your area through the web site https://www.treesaregood.org/ .

Don't really want to come home Doug, but it's tax timeo_O. I hope it at least warms up to at least 30. 3 weeks ago it was chilly here and my SIL was at the beach here and took a nap20210204_134913.jpg
True picture not from a picture site. It was low 60's. And she was dressed like this:facepalm:.
We'll be home in 2 weeks.
