Definitely would be great to have you come out then considering this is a 5100 / 884 already put together. Did you AAL as well?

It would be good to list what tools you have, what tools you need. I'm assuming you have good impact, jack stands, torque wrench, floor jack, breaker bar etc.?

I quite literally have almost 0 tools. Besides a few ratchets and basic tool sets lying around, I have nothing.

No Jack stands. No torque wrench. No impacts. No floor jacks. No breakers bars. Thus, why I never even considered trying this on my own.

A bag of tools is all one would need; most of us have that I'm sure if they work on said truck.

I'd invest into a quality torque wrench just for the future. I'm sure everyone here has floor jacks, impacts, breaker bars, and jack stands. Those can be helpful, hey you can rotate your own tires, change your own oil, and do all of the other maintenance required -- tools pay for themselves.

Also do you need to grease your UCAs, you will need a grease gun. If not, it's still good to grease the UCA bolt, I didn't, and my squeak, which is annoying.

Penetrating wd40 always comes handy, some bolts can be stuck pretty bad. No idea how you guys deal with leaf springs, so not sure what's required there, hopefully just bolts?

I did mine easily in 2 hours or so, however I used to be a tech at Toyota and have been wrenching for years before that.

Let me know if you need assistance, I'm up in roseville.

3 leaf AAL from headstrong. PM me the date/time/address, because I'm not on here as much as I used to be. It got too expensive and I ran out of things to upgrade!

Watching the lift tutorial from OME step by step on youtube is indispensible. They even put bolt sizes and torque specs.

    Little this, Little that.
If you do it the other way, removing the sway bar & tie rod, its way easier than removing the LCA and messing with the alignment to install the lift. imo.

I have also done it the way in the video that's how I know, lol.

Put a bottle jack under the LCA so it doesn't swing out quick. You're not replacing UCAs? UCA bolt is the hardest part.

i have a secret for the UCA bolt. You cut about 1/3 of the flange off the head of the bolt. It'll slide right now. either hacksaw or file it down.

I agree. I went that route as well and didn't remove my LCA.

I used this video as my guide when I installed my coilovers and UCAs. I just bent the fender well back to get that uca bolt out, then bent it back after install. Video makes it look easy. Took me longer, but the video was spot on and a good guide for me.

Yeah guys I’ve been meaning to post here.

Spoke to the wifey and was filling her in about this, she had a few concerns and wasn’t fully comfortable with letting “strangers” work on my truck and at our home. (It’s no offense to you all I hope just a privacy and liability thing)

I want to say I really appreciate everyone who was willing to come wrench on my truck for some cold beer and pizza.. and i hope to meet you all some day in the future cause you all seem cool as hell.

Sorry if any of y’all feel like this thread was any time wasted. I’ll have mods lock it up.

    Lol

I did but it’s a comfortability with the whole situation thing.

Taking it to a shop will ensure that if anything is loose / wrong with the install at least we can deal with them and getting it fixed than having any feeling like any of you guys made a mistake or anything like that... especially when y’all would just be doing me a favor. If that makes sense.
