But it is!! That’s why I liked that design better than the one Archive offers. It also has more ground clearance.

that guy in the pics must have really gone for it! Guys, I’m not saying that these Hammer Hangers aren’t worth it. To the contrary, I want some, especially the v3 that doesn’t make more of an anchor out of the hangers! I just don’t have time to install currently and it’s such a bitch without a plasma cutter. Best setup is clearly beefier hangers AND cross brace. And plating the weak c channel frame... I was just suggesting that for some applications the brace will provide enough reinforcement all while being cheaper and easier to install

It also looks like he may be running these garbage Dobinsons bolts that are hollowed out in the shackle

so just a quick clarification before I focus on installing my hammer hangers. I know that the hangers have an option to either sit closer or further away on the frame itself with the four bolt holes at the top. I currently have Heavy Dakars on my truck right now but I will eventually be ordering Deaver U402 stage III's. Once I set the hammer hanger or, I do not want to changing from one setting to another. Does the settings matter? which settings should I use for each? I think I read somewhere that if you stayed with the DAKARS then you would use the more forward setting and if you went with the Deavers you would set the hammer hangers further back, is that correct? If I were to set the hammer hanger up for my Deavers what is to work with the Dakars in the interim? just looking for clarification. It might be a while before I get the Deavers into my possession so I am unclear whether I can just install them now or have to wait until they come in.

It changes the shackle angle. The HH are just bolted on. Why wouldn’t put set it up ideally for your current leaves and make the simple changes if necessary down the line. Can’t always have your cake and eat it, too.

Eric offers a higher clearance cross tube for his hangers now.

I now see that that brace is tied into the crossmember, but something is going to be the weak point here. Obviously it’s going to depend on how one uses their truck, but the stock hangers are just so darn weak and thin. If you brace an already weak hanger using a very small surface area like that one does, it puts a lot of pressure on that bolt. And to your point, if it’s a hollow bolt it won’t take many hits to bend it.

I completely understand about that aspect, but I am more of a "set it and forget it" type of guy. I understand that the differences change the shackle angle. I am just unclear over whether or not the Deavers are different than the Dakars and whether or not the shackle angle will make a difference. What does one setting allow for that the other one won't?

Unless his instructions have changed, both dakars and deavers are recommended on the same setting. The one where no drilling is required, aka rearmost.

    Whole lotta stuff
The Deaver springs are longer. That's the only dimensional difference.

There’s been a lot of instances where stock hangers bend over time as well and not just from hard hits. Although I wager a good pothole under weight or off-road does help things along. I'd be wary of the stock hangers for anyone that carries constant weight in the back, as well as heavy rear bumpers/swingouts.

I adore my hammer hangers in every way, but I think I might order your Shackle flip w 4” shackles and sell my HH with crossbar kit. Mark has your kit & it’s so sexy & works so well & I think it would look cooler especially because my rear bumper is so ridiculously high and tight, the HH “appear” to protrude quite low. I would literally be sacrificing the ride quality of my beloved HH just because the SF looks so cool and is crawler style. I also know that I likely wouldn’t gain any additional flex switching to the SF because I have everything else pretty much tapped out already for droop travel.

I would be down for that. Does yours have the 4” shackles?

Hey Eric, ordered some HH and crosstube back in early January. Just wondering when the next batch is expected to ship?

    Eric,
I have your HH with 3.6” shackles and crossbar, I think V1 (purchased in June 2018). Been loving it! Originally installed with Allpro Expo leafs, went through 2 sets. I’m now running Deaver stage3 and Icon RXT shocks, which ride even better teamed with HH!
What benefits would I see if I upgraded to the new V3’s? A little more clearance perhaps? I would like a little less lift than what I currently have, even carrying a constant 700# I’m a bit too tail high.

Version 3 vs V1 might lower the rear 1/2", and ground clearance under bottom of Hh would increase by 1.125"

Sweet! Looks like I’ll be upgrading! Bolt holes on the frame, as well as the crossbar, is the same I assume?
