Should I remove my diff drop?

    Color Match Grille, Bed mat, Kings with JBA UCA's, Dakars and 34" BFG KM3, Snugtop Canopy, and my "Marshall Fabrication" Rock Sliders.
    Just my lift a couple days ago and now I have a groaning/slight vibe coming from the front.
    Ive read some guys dont even bother with the diff drop bc it doesnt do much, and even have caused vibes.
    So not sure If its a good idea or not to remove it? :confused:
    any down sides?

    2nd gen? Yeah, I'd get it out of there, although it probably won't solve the diff groan.

    Yeah, I think its a inner bearing or something. not too worried about it yet. But I will see what happens when I take out my D/D.
    there shouldnt be any negative effects right?

    Diff drops in 2nd gens have been determined to be mostly aesthetic.

    my measurements show that im sitting just under a 3" lift.

    AEM CAI, Magnaflow exhaust, DT headers, all speakers replaced with (2) 10's and amp behind rear seats, color matched grill, grillcraft, projector headlights, 8000k HID's, DC Torque wheels, 3" Toytec lift, Bilstein 5100 shocks.
    Well a diff drop might do you some good if your CV joints ever go out. I was told by the dealer that they wont replace them under warranty unless the truck has a diff drop on it.

    That dealer is BS'ing you, unless you bought it from them lifted.

    well my cv's arent at a bad angle, and I just want to see if my vibe in the floor board will go away if I remove the diff drop. I will do it tomarrow and post what I find. I may just lower my lift to 2.5 until I get my tires in a couple weeks...

    Probably. When you buy lifted from the dealer, they stipulate their own warranty stuff on those components.

    Do the ribs of the cv boots have clearance right now? Let us know how they compare after removing the drop spacers...

    I put one in and took it out. It didnt make any difference except that when it was in the truck would make a clunk noise going from 4wd to 2wd.

    Have a diff drop in my truck. (2.5" lift via coil-overs). No Issues. Very Slight decrease in cv angle compared to no diff drop. I decided to leave them in - every little bit helps.

    thats what I think to, but some have taken out the diff drop and it got rid of there vibe. But when I take mine out and nothing has changed, then I will most likely leave it out. (maybe) :)

    Do you guys think I should wait till I get my tires and allignment done? or just do it now?

    The only time I've experienced the clunk noise going from 4wd back to 2wd was when shifting with a load on the drive line. I now shift back into 2wd with my foot off the gas while coasting and it disengages smooth as silk...no clunk noise what so ever (even with a diff drop.)

    I just put a Diff drop in lately; I had a 2 1/2" lift and blew my front diff after 8 months lifted. I finally found a good dealer that would cover the diff under warranty, and had them install the diff drop when they replaced the diff. I am not sure if it helps, but I was told at full droop, that the drive shaft can try to pull out of the diff causing the excessive play in front drive shaft many complain about. When you install the diff drop it shortens the distance to diff on full droop of the wheel???
    I really don't know but if it made the great dealer that finally replaced my diff happy, it’s ok by me.
