Those trails will eventually be reserved for hiking/horseback only. Just a matter of time.

The problem with most of the above is that the only parts of my work day that I actually enjoyed were my drive to and from work.

    Gentlemen,
Regardless of what you want or how you feel, this world is changing and is going to continue to change whether you like it or not.

You can't pick and choose either.

Hmmm... yes. And this is how it all starts. I suppose disagreeing makes one a technology denier and probably a highway terrorist of sorts. We a little backward over here with all that driving and shifting and such.
Just because it's new and driven by technology doesn't make it better. I prefer to make my own choices here. As far as the danger, I also like to ride motorcycles, ski, surf, rock climb. Part of that is I like decision making where there is some risk involved. I used to jump off the roof into the pool when I was a kid and skate in drainage pipes. When I get to the end of life I would rather have had a good ride than a safe one. You have a easy, safe journey. I'll enjoy my ride.
I don't want others, especially a machine making decisions for me.

I had them given to me over 40 years ago. There were only ever 2 sets in Canada, I was told. I’ll have to find them and zero idea on price. Edit: I just got an idea... build a new replica of my friends blue w white roof Cooper S. Maybe not for sale

It is and what these guys saying "I'll keep my old tech" don't realize is pretty much NOBODY keeps their old tech for long.
Case in point... how many 1970's trucks you see on the road still working?

They will bitch and moan and moan some more, finally buy something new and then be proud of it.

...or they know all about both of those things, but have different values and/or different risk tolerance than you do. The infinite variations of "if you see things differently than me you're stupid" intolerance that permeates our society is wearying.

If insurance companies love accidents, why do they give people discounts for installing driving monitors in their cars to make sure they're driving un-recklessly?

Still doesn't mean your premium will go down, or that you can do away with coverage even though you are literally handing over control to another entity. Insurance companies will make sure of that.

We will continually defer to the judgement of the machine learning algorithms firmly embedded in the black boxes of indecipherable code.

Shame on you for questioning the algorithm. We don't need to understand how it works to know that it does work.

Is it technically “off road driving” if you’re hovering above it?
