The second batch size right now sits at 30 and is roughly 50% complete after back to back late nights.

@daveeasa I have to say that the way you are handling this is just fantastic. As someone who has had a couple brushes with ktjo4x4 and the relentlessly out of stock meso customs, your communication and transparency are refreshing. Thanks.

Disclaimer: These photos and my description should be in no way be assumed as a complete "how-to" with this mod. However, I'm hoping some pics with my installation will help someone along the way. Some people can read instructions and do things w/o any issues. I'm one who needs photos/vids to help demonstrate how to do something. Saying that, the instructions that @daveeasa provided on this were fairly straight on.

Per the usual, if you are not sure about doing this mod, please seek professional help or don't do this at all.

1st step: remove the drive side tail light (mine is really dirty for being a near 5 year old truck, so forgive me )

    20210304_125743.jpg

    2. Locate the top bolt within the assembly housing:
    20210304_125750.jpg

    3. Remove the zip ties already on your product, safely put the nut and washer aside for a few minutes. Mount the DIR assembly to the top bolt. And CAREFULLY put the washer and nut on. Use a 10 MM to secure a bit later.
    20210304_130318.jpg

    4. Carefully lay your driver side tail light on the tailgate, and REMOVE the reverse light from the housing.
    20210304_130356.jpg

    5. Remove the bulb and the grey attachments it sits in from the OEM wiring to the tail light (as you can see, once removed it exposes a female end)
    20210304_131258.jpg

    6. Locate the 2-pronged male end on the short T harness:
    20210304_131308.jpg

    7. Connect the MALE 2 pronged end into the OEM female reverse light port

    20210304_131320.jpg

8: Locate the FEMALE end of the short T harness, replace the small gray port removed from OEM female reverse light, and reconnect your reverse light. From here you will be able to reassemble into the tail light:
    20210304_131330.jpg
    20210304_131339.jpg20210304_131404.jpg
    9. Now locate the LONG T harness, carefully extended it so to make sure there are not any krimps in the wires.
    20210304_131415.jpg

    10. Locate the hole in the bottom of the tail light housing (should be a few other wires running through it). From there, run the LONG T harness through so that it comes out BEHIND the rear driver side bumper:
    20210304_131423.jpg 20210304_131510.jpg

    11. Crawl under the driver side bumper, and locate the LONG T harness. Run it over the beam near the spare tire. Both the female and male ends should be readily seen overhead.

    20210304_132105.jpg 20210304_132205.jpg

    12. Locate the GRAY connectors behind the bumper. Disconnect them. It does not take a lot of force to disconnect, so do it gently.
(The black connectors will not be touched in this modification.)
    20210304_132448.jpg

    13. Run the LONG T harness between the disconnected gray ports, and connect them.

I hope these pics help those who are unsure with how to install. I know with the light bar below the tail gate, it's hard to see that the tag lights ARE NOT on. And that was a brain fart on my part when I ordered this. Either way, I still like the idea. I'm going to have to toy with the picture a little bit, but you can definitely tell the lights are OFF in reverse.

@Puppypunter and @daveeasa have a great product. Thanks again y'all!

Thanks for the write up! I am glad to see these getting out in the wild. @daveeasa is getting these down to a science, so hopefully with great write ups like these people will see how easy they are, and that there is a benefit to them :)

@playdixie nice photos. Please don’t forget to add some zip ties as well.

I do have plans to get a video done but haven’t nailed that down yet.

I’ve been calling the stud the bottom one since there is one higher up which could be used. Perhaps middle is best. The lowest one would only work if the relay were inverted and then the longer harness would be feeding up which isn’t how we want it.

I added zipties. I forgot to put that tidbit in there. It's not the most professional write up, but I hope it helps someone along the way.

There's no need to remove the bulb holder from the tail lamp assembly.o_O

Perhaps not. But when I was doing all this yesterday, it was easier (for me anyways) to be "safe than sorry."

Introducing dirt into the tail light assembly and exposing the lamp to a high probability of fracture makes removing the connector from the bulb holder a "required" step. You had the tail lamp assembly removed, you didn't know how to remove the connector so you took the easy step. Bad advise for anyone who'd want to repeat it.

It took 5 hours to install the light. Or maybe 4. I started at 3 or 4 and finished at 8. It really only takes 10 minutes or so, 15 if you take time to make sure you don't pinch the wires. But I sold a car and celebrated a birthday in between the start and stop.

Easy install, good result. Thanks @daveeasa .
