Don't care about making my tires stick out, looking for the offset that will avoid rubbing the most.

    2021 Tacoma TRDOR.

Will have eibach stage 2 coilovers and eibach sport rear shocks. Lifted 2.5" front, 2" rear. Stock UCAs.

Tires toyo open country AT3. 285/70/17.

    Wheels, Fuel Beast 17x9.

With stock UCAs and the above lift, what offset should I pick to help minimize the chance of rubbing as much as possible?

    I have seen these wheels offered in +35, +20, +1, and -12.

    I would get +1 or -12.

I currently have zero offset and wish I got something with a little negative.

I have and like my -12. Sweet spot for me, they stick out a little, but nothin too aggressive.

What size wheels, tires, and lift are you running? Are you running stock UCAs? Rubbing?

I don't care about making my tires stick out... I care more about not rubbing or needing aftermarket UCAs.

On my 4runner with 285s and -12 offset I had to CMC, relocate the fender liners, and trim the bumper to avoid rubbing...

I don't mind doing a CMC really, but want to avoid needing too much trimming.

    I'm vote for -12.

My 17x8.5 0 offset and 285/75/17s will rub my JBA UCA. I will have to get .75" wheel spacers, which is equal to a -19 offset.

+35 and +20 will rub on UCA. -12 will require more aggressive pinch weld beating/plastic trimming etc but can certainly be done. +1 will be less work to fit.

I had 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeak on a similar height lift to yours. I did not rub the UCA at all.

I recently changed to 35” tires and I rub the UCA quite a bit before full lock.
I had to order some .75” Bora spacers to correct it.

I looked for wheels with some negative offset but I like the look of mine the best so I just got spacers.

Thanks, that's what I was trying to figure out... Which would take the least amount of work to fit.

I'd go +1 or -12. I run -12 with 285's on 17x9 with a 2½" lift and had to do a CMC, pinch weld fold and some slight trimming to the inner plastic wheel well however no bumper or fender trimming was necessary. If you want to avoid the CMC I'd go +1 or greater.

285s, 2.5" lift on a 9" wheel with stock UCA? Have fun with that steering wheel nightmare. make sure you get some 60lb+ E load rated rubber to really make it look cool!

What do you mean steering wheel nightmare?

I've lifted lots of vehicles, this will be my 3rd lifted Tacoma... And there's hundreds and hundreds of people on here running stock UCAs with less than 3"of lift and had no issues with alignments...

60+lbs of rubber + wheels on 1.5° of caster is going to suck going down the highway unless you enjoy constantly making steering inputs to go straight not to mention every moderate bump yanking the steering wheel. "Issues with alignment" and shitty caster are not necessarily the same thing.

It sounds like you could be really helpful, but would rather be condescending. There's plenty of ways to provide info, but doing so in a condescending way normally gets ignored.

I love information, this forum has tons of it and thousands of helpful members to guide people in the right direction when making choices.... That's one of the reason this forum has survived when many others have not due to social media. Plenty of assholes on social media, forums have always had more of a close knit family vibe, something this world needs more of.

    So let's try this again...

    Pretend I posted

"Less than 3" of lift, with a very common wheel size, 17x9, with a very common tire size on lifted tacomas 285/70/17, with stock UCAs... This is done every day on these trucks, I did it with my 2017 Tacoma, and my 2019 4runner without issues, but I need help picking offset"

    Then you posted

"the truck would drive better, smoother at the steering wheel and more planted on the road, if aftermarket, adjustable UCAs are used regardless of offset"

I would of thanked you for the info, and considered you a helpful individual. You'd get a warm fuzzy feeling of being a nice, polite, helpful member, and I'd get helpful information... It would totally be a win win situation for the both of us.

    :D:thumbsup::D

+1 gets my vote for the best chances of avoiding rub anywhere. Buddy of mine has slight mudflap (he wanted them on) rub on +0 offset. I have -10 offset and had to do cmc and pinch weld.

You want to focus more on backspacing than offset as it’s more universal as offset is different wheel to wheel depending on size.

9” is pretty wide so you’ll need a minimum of the -12 to push the wheel to a 4.5 backspace to help clear the UCA. 4.5 is typically the absolute minimum for 285s. I would recommend a 4.3, 4.0, 3.7 etc backspace.

    Thanks for the help.

So are you saying the +1mm will not clear the UCAs?

I would plug the numbers into a tire calc to compare but think your on the edge. Lot of money for a maybe.

The only issue is these calcs don't ask for backspace or wheel width... Just offset....
