    No, it's called flying.

@Lt. Dangle can you imagine the sh!tshow 3D navigation would cause for some people who shouldn't even be allowed to say "driver's license"? Automated routes and AI controlled navigation would be absolutely necessary.
Yeah, they are legally obligated to make decisions as a company that are in the interests of the shareholders. So in this case it would be:

Continue raising premium rates and lobbying for laws that require you to purchase their services
All while pumping money into tech that saves lives and property from being damaged.

Monthly revenue stream + funding tax exempt/rebate-able research into safety tech = PROFIT^2

If you haven’t seen or known that manufactures are headed towards self driving then you must live under a rock. Actually what’s probably going to eventually happen, due to the rising costs of everything is that the average person won’t be able to afford a new vehicle. Ultimately there will be ride sharing. You need a ride you open an app on your phone and within minutes a vehicle will pull into your driveway to take you to your destination. After your dropped off it will go to the next closest customer, running basically 24/7 except when they are pulled out for servicing/maintenance/recharging.

Your vehicle will cost so much that it will have to go to work as an Uber while you're at work just to pay the monthly subscription fees for the mandatory software updates.

    I drive a Miata.

Funny story - last house I sold the buyers asked for 2000 cash to hunt down the "roof leak". They said they spotted my shoddy ceiling patch job in the living room which must have only come from a roof leak, what else could it be?

I had to tell the realtor that I was flashing new firmware on my homebuilt drone and it, um, took off.

    :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:

Both realtors got a good laugh out of that one.

Anyways, I see a new opportunity to modernize to something different than that popcorn texture! :D

I’m sure no insurance agent ever thought “Hmmm, if they get involved in an accident, and our little 3% discount thingy proves they were speeding, and we don’t have to pay out that $18,342.27 claim, that’ll be a good thing? Nah... that’s not right.”

It’s really rare when a corporation actually does something that isn’t motivated by their need to appease wall street.

Again, it's critically important that we don't forget that companies have a legal obligation to make decisions in the best interests of the shareholders.

From a global resource management perspective, this makes total sense. Most cars are idle 90% of the time. This way, utilization could probably hit 30%+

Totally get that too, fiduciary responsibility, loyalty, etc. It’s the fine print gotchas that aren’t in the best interest of their clients I take issue with.

Yo, what fine print? I'm pretty sure the title of the document is "How much are you (customer) willing to let us get away with"

I recall downloading an app to my phone, and having to scroll through like 40 pages of EULA. I’m mean, really? For an app? I get that it’s our society, and I’m guilty of blowing through some disclosures just like others. But we’re now in a social structure where it’s near impossible to ‘go it alone’. You’re dependent on so many companies and services for a normal life.

I can't even start on this one... "reasonable" expectation of competence doesn't even come into play for these corporate entities

At the rate that we are going, this may happen sooner rather than later. That's because people are driving worst now then ever.

They’re either distracted by a device while driving, high or strung out on something, falling asleep from exhaustion or insomnia and then there’s the dumb, dumber, stupid ones that are multiplying faster than rabbits.

We don’t really have a choice, the driving dead, are driving us faster to these changes.

I’ve got a $100 deposit on the Tesla truck. If it’s anywhere as good as their cars watch out. As a fleet manager for a decent sized company I welcome the technology.

When autonomous cars are discussed I always think of the scene in I Robot where Will Smith is chastised for self driving after the battle with the robots in the tunnel.

I wonder if we'll end up with more drunk, or stoned passengers now that these cars get them to their destinations.
