Is POP N Lock still in business? About a month ago I filled out their online form with this question and haven’t heard anything back. So I’ll ask you.

I installed their remote system to lock my tailgate using the existing door remote. It’s been about a 1.5 years and it worked flawlessly but about two months ago it stopped unlocking most of the time.

Its a simple device using two L brackets on a solenoid switch. You hit the remote and the solenoid moves the L bracket which locks/unlock the lock. On unlocking the L bracket misses the lever. At first I thought maybe things had come loose but everything is tight. Looking closer I noticed the corner of the unlocking L bracket is rounded (the same corner on the closing bracket is still square)

So before I start bending things can someone tell me if their L bracket has a rounded corner on the business side. If it’s still square then I need to see if I can replace the bracket, if rounded I think I just need to bend the L bracket for better contact.

    OR, I’m taking suggestions.

FYI I had rotator cuff surgery 5 weeks ago so I’m just trying to prepare for when I can actually do anything with my arm.

    thanks

It's seems they're designed to fail in that fashion. Mine started doing the same after the same amount of time. Fails unlocking, never fails to lock! Other folks have said lubricating some of the parts in there helped which I have done and it's gotten better.

Did you notice if the corner was rounded?

Do you have the older version with the metal brackets or the one made with ABS? Pretty sure they're still in business since they keep updating their products.
