I like the looks without the mud flaps but they are a must on a truck IMO. They really save your paint, if you care about things like that.

Personal opinion. Mudflaps are great for protection, but the truck looks better without them. I've debated getting some for my truck, but could never bring myself to actually do it.

I personally like mud flaps, on.
    They're there for a purpose.

either the factory moulded ones, or I personally like and use tufskinz (you can order them in custom sizes for more protection). they will keep stone chips off the sides of the auto, and mud, road grime etc from getting to the panels. in my opinion, other than adding a corrosion barrier (fluid film, or woolwax) to protect the truck, mudflaps are the first investment you should make.

here is a thread to help start the decision. Ski

I just purchased RokBlokz for my ‘21 OR. Still need to install.
My ‘08 Tacoma Sport came with factory mud flaps, they were torn off while driving during snow, the stiff (OEM) mud flaps don’t give and they have the same OEM mud flaps to date.
RekGen is another brand, less expensive than Rokblokz.

Installed the Tufskins after hearing too many stones clanging against the truck.

    Been happy with my Rekgens...

I happen to like the way they look and keeps the truck much cleaner and damage free. Win win

OEM 1st gen are expensive. I about stopped breathing when I seen the price.

Fortunately for me, mine are stock originals.

When there are no mudflaps, I like to use cardboard to make templates.
Air up the tires, park on level ground, and come up with a nice pattern.
I then lay the pattern onto 5/16" conveyor belt material, and cut them out.
My way has always worked out great, and very cheap compared to prefabs.

I put them on the back to protect other people's cars. Not a fan of them on the front.

They are like $60. That is enough to make you stop breathing? Word of advice, don't ever look at porsche oem accessories, I'm pretty sure you'd stroke out and drop dead on the spot :D

They’re expensive if you are dumb enough to buy from the dealer counter instead of through the online portal.

    Referencing 1st gen, yes.
3rd gen are cheaper for sure.

This. Mine came without flaps and after coming off a trail one day, I kicked up a rock and cracked my buddy's windshield. He had to replace his windshield. I ordered flaps right after that. I ended up giving him my TRD skid plate out of guilt when I upgraded to the RCI skid.

I like my rekgens. Protects my paint. And honestly, if you've ever got a chip on your windshield from a car in front of you, you can appreciate the purpose they serve. I think it's a dick move not to have them if you frequent roads other than pavement.
