Got my new saw this morning, its not much bigger, and close to the same weight. The larger bar and chain are a significant upgrade it looks however. I will be putting it to use this week on the warm days. It will be time to burn some piles I've had waiting and clean up a lot of dead stuff thats fallen in the recent storms while I'm at it.

Excited! But happy to have a second battery as I don't know how long it will last in this bigger saw

    It’s new boot day!
    image.jpg

Picked up some Red Wings. I was rocking Chippewa and they’re awesome but I bought them when I was working a rail road project and walking ballast and ties all day. They’re good for that but they’re miserable walking finished concrete floors all day so needed something a bit more appropriate. Didn’t think to check in the store but they’re not US made apparently, found that out when I got them home.

a lot of redwing are moving. We have to wear steel toe in the shop but I’m not on a job site so I like to be able to wear just normal shoes. Redwing has a pair of black steel toe leather shoes (not boots) that are great but they’re like 200 bucks and when I wanted a set a few years ago the lady at the store said they were moving the machines in Malaysia or some shit. I typically wear timberland pro Gladstone’s I’m on set 3 or 4 I think. Work pays for up to 100$/year.

sounds cool! I’m looking forward to a trip where I’m not bound by work, like I won’t be able to just take an extra day at Joshua tree just because I want to on this trip for example. But I also think that when I hit 55-60 and time to retire I also might not be super excited to sleep in a car for 2 weeks, achey joints and whatnot.

I'm not a fan of Wachusett. It's ok if I want to do something last minute (which you can't right now "because of covid")(nobody is selling tickets for the same day). I guess it's just buried into my head, if I'm planning to go somewhere then go somewhere, don't go to Wachusett. Lol
I've never been but I'll keep it in mind.
No I've never heard of it. I'm going to look into it though. Thanks for the tip.

I booked Mt Cranmore. 3 of them in a private 90 minute lesson, rentals and 1/2 mountain lift tickets plus my full mountain lift ticket. $550

I haven’t looked in a few years but they used to have some solid deals. If the family is going to ski next year, look at annual rentals for the kids at least while they’re growing!

Man, I'd forgotten what a blast these old quads are to bomb around on. 15 speeds and the option of 2wd, 3wd, or 4wd: just point it where you want to go and it goes. Getting it going was more of a pain than I expected, but totally worth it.

New-ish. Picked it up around Thanksgiving for $300. Needed new rear axle joints and rear brakes & wheel bearings, which involved a lot of back & forth with wrong parts from ebay (and apparently everything ebay ships USPS, so it took forever). And then when I finally got the correct axle joints & rebuilt the carb, it ran great for about 5 minutes and then immediately hoovered some trash from the tank. So then I had to strip and clean it all AGAIN, but every weekend lately has been booked. So I flushed the tank and finally got it running correctly again today.

I like This American Life, but I don't keep up with it. There is one where they spend a month at a Chrysler dealership and it is excellent (129 Cars) and another about NUMMI. They also did a show about the cause of the 2008 financial crisis that was very well done.

Anyone need tires? 285 75r16 took these off my truck. 5/32 left. Some minor cupping on 2 and other 2 are perfect. Upgraded to bigger size.
