Not a fan of some of that stuff, but I DO like the adaptive cruise in my outback Can just set it and forget about it - don't have to keep kicking the cruise off and on all the time when on the highway. Don't like the auto brake stuff though.... I can see what the car in front of me is doing and know when to push the brake!!!

 

I love my adaptive cruise control on Stitch. And while the TSS auto brake is annoyinging at times, I can attest it works as designed and indicated in my owner's manual. Had a drunk stumble into road in downtown Anchorage one time shortly after I got Stitch; I could feel the brakes apply a split second before my foot applied pressure to the brake pedal. Didn't hit the fool.


Sometimes the tech is an annoyance and hindrance, other times it is truly impressive.

I agree...but the old guy in me also thinks it is just another thing encouraging distracted driving..."oh the car will brake AND steer for me? Now I can definitely make tik tok videos..."

 

I thought that, too. But I do love the adaptive cruise control and the braking can help avoid a collision with an idiot out there. Don't know about the Tacoma - but the outback you have to keep your hands on the wheel for the lane assist....

 

Hard to argue...idiots will always be idiots. I'll stop there. Don't need to rant and get my BP up before work tonight.

 

Yep, Stitch does not drive for me. And to my knowledge, TSS on Stitch is lane departure alert (beep-beep)...no pressure to steering to correct, only the beep to warn. I generally keep that turned off, except those mornings driving home after work when my brain feels a little foggy tired.

 

Seems like the outback beeps all the time lane departure is "on" all the time - can't turn it off. But the lane assist I don't use - it's annoying when I'm trying to avoid pot holes and it wants to go straight over them. Time for bed - have a good night @ work

 

Interesting they did not engineer for on/off ... that would get annoying no doubt. Sleep well Susan.

A beef roast is on the menu for here today also, along with mashed potatoes , gravy, asparagus and maybe a small salad. Yes, gravy is full of fat, but it sure make the potatoes and beef taste great. I will have to just take a 2nd walk today to burn some extra calories.
