What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Replaced the windshield, preparing to get an inspection.

 

My 2003 bought used in 2006 was originally from Arizona. One good thing about that is...dry climate and mostly freeway miles on it. Bad thing is lots of sand in Arizona. I didn’t realize how much fine pitting the windshield got until driving at night. One thing regardless is that a new windshield won’t have perfect clearness for long, no matter where you live.

This morning I just replaced one of the missing power port covers and swapped my broken original radio out for a mint condition stock cd/tape player combo (same radio). I also cleaned out behind the dash and all of the plastics before reassembly.

The FailPro one is actually pretty good, comes with new spark plugs tube seals but doesn't come with new cover bolt grommets so you'd have to source those separately.

 

The FEDEX man surprised me today. Tires arrived.
BFG A/T 265/70R16 to Falken Wildpeak MT01 235/85R16

 

I nearly got those in 255/85 last time. 4 on ebay for under $800 before taxes and shipping. Ended up getting STmaxx though. Interested to hear how you like those, not many reviews on here for the Wildpeak MTs

 

Helll na. Lol. Got it for the wife. It has an OME lift. Super clean. Swapping her beat from the lexus over. Now im on the hunt for wheels. I like poke. Hoping someone can help out.

Whats the norm for 4runner wheels. Just saw a set of 16x8 -25. But i was thinking steel wheels 17x9 with a low bs. I like them to poke. Buddy has some used 305/70/17. I know nothing about the 4runners. Lol

 

I picked them up for $728 +tax/shipped.
I looked at the STMax, the Yokohama, and a few others.
These, and the price, grabbed me. I have the matching spare on the way.
Hopeful they can be mounted and balanced tomorrow.

Looks a lot like the bumper I've been building in my mind. Just need to find a welder. And learn to weld. Details.

About how much did the materials for that cost? Also curious about how much it weighs when you're done.

 

Don’t get the one that is aqua blue in color. The mechanic that did my valve cover gasket “while they were in there” doing my timing belt, used that kit. The valve cover gasket may have been installed incorrectly around the cam plugs and they leaked within 10k miles, but the tube seals were a horrible fit. They pulled right off unlike the OEM ones that are very snug.

So I'm at $258ish, plus welding wire, bolts and paint. I have some scraps left over, but not a lot.

As far as weight goes. The OEM bumper was 48ish lbs, the OEM hitch was 50ish, and this is mostly done at 82 lbs.

Finally installed the ECGS bushing.
Fubar’d the first one while driving it with a socket.
Bought another, threw it in the freezer, and hand polished the outer race with 600, 1000, then 1500 grit. I also bought the install tool. This one went in much smoother

 

Where’d you order the struts and stuff from?
