How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

Wanted: 2021 DCLB auto, off-road trim, dealer unable to locate one for a trade.
Order placed early November.
Order cancelled last week (March) - salesman said they had no plans to begin building it until after May. I decided to just keep my 2016 DCSB. It will be paid off this month so I can devote some $$ to add mods I would have done to the new truck anyway.

 

2021 owners - how many keys are you getting ?

Package came with 2 fobs

is there supposed to be valet key ?

I looked into this and those of you with AT and push button start have the metal key in the fob which can act as a valet key. You just remove it from the fob before giving it to the parking lot attendant. Those of us with the MT and the standard keyless entry do not get a valet key, meaning that the glove box cannot be secured when the vehicle is in use by others. A deleted feature which I miss, but my MT is a joy to drive.

so if we have habe push button start and smart entry, we get the two remotes with the little key inside

It is a 'bummer' about the MT not getting the Valet key... HOWEVER - We've had it in the Landcruiser for 20 years and have never used it! (It is an Automatic).

Also, I've had the valet key in my other MT vehicles as well - and on that note, I just tell the valet, "Thank you, but I will be parking this myself" - I keep my keys and get it myself after. Never had an issue with that. (Often the guy is relieved if he cannot drive a stick).

I asked a tech at the dealer once if he could drive a stick. He said "oh yes all the guys can - we have plenty of customers' cars here to learn on... we all teach each other".

He could not believe that he had said that out loud... AFTER he said it. (by the look of his face).

Valet guys are just the same - so they will not get my vehicles... Valets have much better stories to tell about what they do in customer's vehicles compared to dealer techs...

 

Has anyone ordered recent and what's the time line? I want one by late July/August. A part of me wants to wait and see what the 2022 model will bring.

 

ordered a 21 dcsb army green sport 6mt on jan 1st, 2021. zero update other than “your truck is being built” which seemed more like a “it’ll be here eventually”. guessing a few more months.

 

What updates were you looking for? There aren't many steps. Allocation>build>ship>arrive.

I haven't heard from my dealer either but they won't have much to say until my "truck is being built."

 

Ordered mine in late October and took delivery in the first week of January.

Not a lot of communication in between about the progress of the build.

MT, two integrated key + fobs. No valet key.

 

Yes this was my experience aswell. Got very little updates on the status(Ordered late October) just kept waiting. I finally got the good news that it was finally built on February 25th. And now I am waiting for it to get shipped from Mexico. Expect a long wait and you won't be disappointed.

Give syou more time. To save a bigger down payment/buy mods before the truck gets here.

 

Ordered a 2020 DCSB OR 6MT Barcelona Red with only tech package on July 1, 2020. Ended up taking delivery of a 2021 with the same specs on Oct 28th. Worth the wait. They still included the door sill protectors, all weather mats, bed cleats, but I didn't pay for those things. (the entire point of ordering direct was to not pay for stuff I didn't want at the time). This was at the height of the plant shut downs.

 

Ordered a 2021 dcsb or 6mt feb 23rd. Provided info for the 500$ order fee they have, was told this won't be charged till the vehicle "gets put in their inventory "? No updates since then. Lady said its be may at the soonest

 

Is that $500 a deposit that goes toward your purchase, or a fee that adds to your total cost?

 

I was told it will go towards purchase.

 

It goes towards the purchase, l put a check for $250 down at order time and 4 months later when the truck came in they still hadn't even cashed it. When l got to finance the lady asked if l wanted her to shred the Check or apply it towards the purchase.

 

I'm guessing that's what they are doing with mine as well, haven't seen the charge on my account yet anyway

 

Normally I would think so, but @Evostaco said "$500 order fee they have," and with all the extra junk fees dealers add on these days, I was just confirming that the dealer wasn't charging a $500 fee for the privilege of a special order. I guess I shouldn't give the dealers any ideas -- hope they are not monitoring this thread.

 

I also put a $500 deposit to order the truck, and that deposit also went towards the purchase price of the vehicle.
