Got a new toy to play with. My buddy bought this new last year and needed to get rid of it, I've never welded before ever, but figured it's never too late to learn

    About halfway done...
Awesome. This was my Covid activity. If you want any tips from an amateur hit me up.
I can proficiently glue steel and aluminum projects together.

If you've managed to glue steel and aluminum together I'd definitely be intrigued

I bought a Eastwood 135 and use flux core on it and built this for my truck the other day. It’s a frame for a sleep platform. It’s been fun and frustrating learning how to weld.

My platform has succumbed to water seeping in and time to redo it. I never thought about doing a steel frame. Perfect thing to practice with

Yeah I plan on putting some seals down under and on top of the plastic bed caps and up front. I just used whatever was already on the cap when I got it used

Also saw someone on here mention that those slots are exactly an inch deep and one inch square tube is perfect and well it is.

Introducing myself, Danny. I'll be moving back up to the PNW in a couple weeks near Olympia. Lived in Puyallup 10+ years ago so excited to go back. Been in the desert between then and now (Phoenix, Vegas, etc).

Speaking of that, are there any permits normally to go offroad/ camp? Like I said, I'm used to desert/ high desert camping. Drive out there, stay on the road, set up camp, no permits generally.

No better time to show off the setup below than now! Ice fishing/ camping in high country Nevada in 8° weather.

@Marlin Crawler LCA braces, new lower control arms and upper ball joints this weekend. Front end feels tighter than a ticks ass. Hopefully it'll hold an alignment after wheeling now!

How was the install? Pretty easy to burn them in?

The install was pretty easy, the marlin kit fits right in with no room for error really. Just had to straighten up a few of my flattened cam tabs. I had a union pipe fitter buddy help me burn them in after i tacked them in place. It's pretty disheartening how flimsy the lower contol arm mounts are stock.

Good to know....feel like starting a tab kit burn in side hustle?

As much as I would like to do this myself I don't have a welder :pout:

I'm in for at least part of the trail. It was so much fun last year, even just for a night! A South->North run is super appealing, as I'd really like to see the Northern segments, and I'd consider joining y'all in Ellensberg.

I'm interested to see what trail reports look like, but I would probably consider a bypass to the washout - my rig is way top heavy for that little bit and that felt a bit too sketchy for my tastes. That said, if anyone else is interested, initial recon says there is a small bypass to the washout available by hopping down from Blewitt that I could take on my own and relink with the group.

    Howdy guys,

Been following this thread for a while, always cool to see what other Tacoma owners in the area are up to!

I just placed an order for some JBA UCA's, and was wondering if anyone has experience installing UCAs and could lend a hand. I'm more than happy to comp you for your time and expertise. I've watched quite a few YouTube videos on the process and think I could tackle it, but also don't want to hit a tricky point and get stuck with front end disassembled (plus I hear this job is best when tackled by two!). I could buy new upper bolts so that the existing ones can get cut out - making the install faster.

That said, I'm located up in Bellingham and it looks like a good majority of this group is in Seattle. Please let me know if you're interested, again, I can reimburse you for your time.

    Thanks all!
