I have an 18, my dad has a 15. If mine wrecked, I would be looking for a clean second gen.

It's been a phase in over the last few years. Only recently have complete builds come from Mexico. As to whether it makes a difference, time will determine that. If the experiences of other car makers is any measure, the prospect is not good. I don't know what "some people" might think, but my thoughts on the matter are not groundless, and in any case they are just my opinion. We should revisit this in 5 years.

I've had very limited experiences with vehicles built in Mexico. Aside from chrysler products being chrysler products most have been positive.

I’ll be the dissenting opinion. Had a 2010 SR5. Never let me down, loved the power, the ride, everything. Traded it in on my ‘21 off-road and it’s everything I loved about the old truck and more.

I will readily admit the low end power is soft and the auto trans is terrible, but with the manual I’m getting 1-2 mpg better in every day driving and couldn’t be happier with the truck.

I loved the second gens, but the third gen is a very solid truck

I'd post the same thread / survery in the 3rd gen section. My guess is you'd get the opposite response. If not, then the option to keep the 2nd should be clear. I have a 2005 with 168k miles and will drive this as long as possible ... so add me to the biased list of 'keep the 2nd gen'. My paint looked similar to yours, and I got one of the lower end paint job from Maaco about 2 years back. Hopefully I'll have an opportunity to get another one in 10 years lol.

Dude I feel this, I love my truck but if I didn’t need a truck I’d buy my 4Runner back in a heart beat, that rig was not even comparable to my Tacoma
