    My issue is finding somewhere I CAN go overland camping. I'm not looking for one of those RV pull-up sites, or a trail you drive to then hike, but proper trail driving to a place you can pitch a tent. Apparently living on the east coadt isn't exactly conducive to these interests.

    Green ridge, George Washington national forest, Jefferson national Forest, Michaux state Forest, Canaan Valley, Dolly Sods, Uwharrie National forest, Pisgah National forest, Cherokee national forest, ADK mountains + many more! These are all places you can do this on the east coast. You just have to do some research!

    Or you can do the Appalachian byway, I did about 50% of the byway and it was quite the experience. You definitely need a decent “Rig”that will take some beating, some navigation skills with no cell service, route planning, recovery know how’s etc.
