Good morning and let me know if this isn't the right place to post this.

I have a 2007 Tacoma, which is still covered by the frame recall warranty as far as I know. I've had it for a few years but recently it has appeared to have some issues relating to the frame and rust.

This week it seems something in the exhaust system or catalytic converter has broken - louder engine noises, backfiring, odor in cabin, etc. I know the prices for anything cat related have probably sky-rocketed lately with palladium/metal prices so would like to know if this could be related and/or covered.

I'd like to take it in to a dealership to get checked out and see if a free repair is in the cards (for the frame, not the exhaust system), but am looking for advice on this, as I'm not an experienced car/truck owner at this point and don't want to get taken advantage of.

    Thanks

As far as I know 2007s are all out of the frame repair recall now. I think 2009s and maybe a few 2008s are the oldest with a frame recall active on them.

I believe it is 12 years from date of first use.
My 07 was checked back in 2016. It passed inspection.
If I remember correctly, mine was out of warranty some time in 2019.
I used to have the paper work, I think I threw it away last year. Didn’t figure I needed it any longer.

Best thing to do is talk to some dealerships and give them your VIN. I remember seeing 15 before, but I think it's actually 12.

I think 15 years was on some 1st Gen trucks.

Here is my understanding on the warranty.

2nd Gen trucks were inspected and if the frame failed inspection it was replaced, IF you were inside the warranty coverage period. When Toyota enacted the extend warranty on the frames, all trucks were with in the coverage period (2016 it was final. There for even the 2005 trucks were inside the coverage period)

2011 - 2015 trucks are still being inspected, and if applicable, you either get a CRC spray or frame replacement. You should have received a letter stating you need to have the frame inspected. And depending on the area you HAVE to have the CRC spray to maintain the warranty coverage.
What I don’t know is, what states and region require the CRC spray.

I live in Tennessee. Mine was only inspected. And I’ve never been told I needed the CRC spray.
It doesn’t matter any longer, I’m out of the coverage period entirely now.

OP, just call Toyota. They should know.

It's 12 years from date of first use, so your 2007 won't qualify, sorry.

Is it a 4 banger? There was a recall for the cats on those trucks.
