    This is not how its supposed to be, the button does go in more than this, we have to troubleshoot this. there is a chance that some of the plastic could have been scrapped off and is preventing the button from sliding all the way in. try pulling it out and checking for burrs

    It definitely doesnt look pink, the pictures are deceiving depending on the camera and the screen you're seeing it in. the matte red is actually darker than the machined red.

    No - I Haven’t emailed. I am happy with the matte - I think the anodized may have been too blingy for my liking. So happy with the “accidental” mistake.

    that scratch definitely looks like damage that happened before anodization. can't believe someone didnt catch that if there is a qc process in place.
    imo that should be replaced

    @FreshMexicanTaco

    I got mine today. Trying to install it on a 2020 4Runner, but not having any luck. I can't get it all the way on. I feel like if I push any harder the whole button assembly will break away from the dash. It seems like it's hanging up on the snap features. Any thoughts?

    Yes, the inside dimensions of the center squarish (squarcle?) section is a little smaller than the stock button. About 0.25mm smaller in one direction and 0.50mm smaller in the other. But it seems like it's mostly the material thickness because the outside dimensions are pretty close. But the button indexes and snaps on the inside of that section.

    It seems like the TacoGarage button stays on with friction as opposed to snaps in the stock button. So maybe it makes sense to be undersized a touch. It kinda seems like the leading edge of the TG button is just hanging up on the stock detents. I'm thinking I can chamfer the leading edge a bit to help it ride home. But wanted to ask before I got grinding stuff up.

    Hey hows it going, have you had any different luck since?
    Theres a few things that may cause this but one common one we've seen is that if the button is not inserted straight it can cause the plastic on the actual switch to scrape a bit and that in turn causes an extra tight fit. This is easily fixed by removing the button and cleaning any debris or burrs on both the button and the switch.
    Let me know if your still having problems

    This could also be the case but it would mean that the detents are different than what we tested, the chamfer should help. Let us know how it works.

    FreshMexicanTaco,

    Are you the one making these or is another company making them? I ask because a bunch of us over at the Lexus group want to have one that is made with the F logo on it... I believe someone is trying to coordinate it but wanted to double check here since it appears the buttons are identical to the ones that people were inquiring about getting custom done. Same colors/shape, 3 holes in the bottom..etc.

    Thanks much,
    -Nigel

    I *think* you can test the dead battery thingy by pulling the battery out of your fob. I believe in the dead fob mode the truck energizes the fob with near field transceiver process. I think. :)

    <edit>
    Too far behind on this thread... the fob question has been answered multiple times.

    Just wanted to follow up on this. I used a Dremel to chamfer the leading edge and it slipped right on. :thumbsup:

    Thank you for pointing that out before too, I'm glad it worked out but in order to avoid any future similar situations we did make some small changes.
