Finally took the 5 minutes to mock up a 3D print I should have done a long time ago. The dimensions still need to be figured out but the intent is for it to be mounted to the bed rail to hang the snow brush on so 1) I can get it off of my back seat floor and 2) it won't be sliding around the box.

    Brush hook.jpg

I'll obviously need 2 of them printed but with the hardware that fits into the bed rail, this should set me back a staggering $7 and I could do something comparable (although I don't have anything planned right now) for the cost of just the 3D print - about $0.80. :p

Here’s the Jeep from the mechanic across the street. Cummins is mocked up under it with his new frame he made. Those two 8 lug axles are going under it.

These holes are tiny. I assume they were done with an EDM.

Some trucking companies issue a trucker driving GPS system specifically made so you can enter load heights, etc and it will give you a compatible route. Some truckers cheat though and use google maps, and thats caused several instances where a truck takes a route that a 53' trailer should def not be on.

The guardsman pass one really sucked. Basically to go from SLC to Park City there are 3 ways: Parleys canyon, Guardsman Pass in the summer, or Provo canyon down south.

Parleys got shut down due to a brush fire, so it rerouted a lot of folks up and over guardsman. Then the semitruck shut down guardsman, so the only way between the 2 cities was through Provo Canyon which caused bad traffic, but its also like a 62 mile reroute that changes your commute from 26mi/30 mins to 88mi and 1h46m of driving

Congratulations Cory, I hope everything works out great for you. I think Utilities companies are generally pretty good to work for wage and benefits. In 17 years at my job we have had a couple or few guys went to a University for work. Nuclear job though is a different animal.
If worst came to worse I bet you could get the old job back. Seems like you did everything correctly/ not torched bridges on your way out.

    Electrical Discharge Machining.
    Revolutionized the die making industry.
It's cool stuff, if interested YouTube some videos. I be creed is correct about the EDM, my guess something like that would be done with a carbon electrode type but not sure because that would require intricate machining of the electrode. More I think probably wire edm. It's amazing.

I informed my old bosses that I had accepted a new job and they proceeded to not talk to me for the next 2 weeks. On my last day, one of them didn't even show up and the other only remembered it was my last day when he saw I was loading up my vehicle with all my crap. Nice "thanks for working for us for 8 years", huh?

Amusingly, now if they want information for any projects they're working on on campus, guess who they have to get in touch with? ;)

Thanks man I appreciate it. I do like where I work now but the stagnation is what’s killing me here. I definitely won’t burn any bridges cause that’s not who I am, but I will miss my work friends. I’ve got a looong time before retirement so I hope I can beg my way back in if something goes south.

When my dad got done at darlings Honda (shit situation, they fired him for going on a pre approved vacation then changed their mind a week before) he texted one of his co workers and asked him to lock his tool box, and got the cold shoulder and “I’m not getting involved”. I never understood the dynamic in a dealership, and I now understand why my dad never wanted me to work on cars. I love mechanics, and working on sleds, bikes, and atvs, but also understand that flat rate really killed the relationship between techs, which is really too bad. Lot of good guys working behind that service wall.
