Since you seem to be the resident expert and I don't seem to be getting any useful information any other way, I'd sure appreciate an answer to something I'm dealing with.

My 2nd Gen Taco has a ripped boot on the rear driveshaft just behind the carrier bearing. It seems that Toyota doesn't service that as a part number separate form the entire driveshaft...

    for about $900.

    Any ideas?

    I found this:
    $23 Spicer 211932X Boot Kit

    Any better ideas?

So when this is good and dry, is it worth applying some of this high zinc primer before paint?

Take measurements on the length of the boot and how many ribs it has. Measure both shaft end diameters. If it’s close then you need to try. Mark both ends so you can reinstall the same way. Take only one Side of the boot off so if it won’t work you only need to reinstall one side.

    On edit.
Take the cowl apart and put some wire mesh over the heater inlet. Do the same for air cleaner. You’ll be calling your insurance guy in about a year to have the motor torn apart

    Well thanks...

I guess that's what I'm down to. Kind of surprised this hasn't cropped up already and a fix become standard.

I'll let you know if it fits well enough to brag about so you can pass it on if someone else asks.

That's on the list when I do the tow mirror install. The truck is being left in the garage at work from now on rather than outside under a tent since the boss' truck is going bye-bye (he retired).
I opened and checked the intake filters before I started it so I didn't suck Mr & Mrs Mouse into the engine. Destructive little turds.
