I am going to install the 04B33 TSB later today and just wonder if techstream pretty much walks me through the process?

I would recommend keeping all your posts on the same subject in one thread. It really helps folks follow along, esp as you have folks looking for updates in those threads.

The entire process is laid out in the 1st Post of the ECU Update thread with screenshot step by steps. See the link in my signature. In that 1st Post, the Toyota ECU Flashing TSB is attached. It shows every step.

And, yes. The Update Wizard gives you precise instructions to do it.

Just sayin', but you're gonna laugh when you realize how easy this 10min project is.

Yes, follow the steps EXACTLY. In fact, I recommend using the checklist in the ECU thread, and follow the TSB steps. Be sure your battery is charged. I connected mine to a battery maintainer during the flash. Good luck, it is worth it.

No. The mongoose drivers are for the Toyota adapter used at the dealer.

I believe you have the Tactix adapter with the Tactrix drivers install? If so, just select the OpenPort drivers in the drop down menu.

    You're welcome!

I have been flashing my Taco and other folk's Tacos since 2018. It is a fairly solid process on the TSB flash side and very robust on the vF / OVT side.

You mentioned before that you don’t use the OV Tune on your truck. At least I think. Is that just a preference?

Not at all. I've had the tunes since early 2019. Friggin' stellar and the TSBs just make them better.

There are some folks who are content with the TSB tunes. For me, I drove two tanks Stock on the latest TSB and greatly missed the OV Tunes.

Yep, I agree on slow testing and feeling out the differences. I waited to perform the OVTune until I had a chance to update and test the TSB ECU upgrade to 04B33. The reviews on the shifting improvements are accurate. It is a definite improvement, and I would suggest at least driving the factory update for a while before committing to an OVTune. While I really appreciated the improvement Toyota put into the ECU changes, it was still lacking for what I wanted out of my truck. I ended up using an OVtune, and it is now a completely different experience driving. It is really up to you to decide what you want out of your vehicle.

That is a great approach, even for feeling out different OV Tunes. Give them at least 500mi to settle and retrain muscle memory also.

It is funny that after all these years, Toyota still hasn't delivered with all of these attempts.
