Interior chrome elimination

Like many here, I am trying to get rid of all the chrome pieces in the interior of my Tacoma. These include the door handles, the vent rings, 4x4 control knob ring, and cup holder surround. (Your truck may have other chrome pieces as well.)

Other than the chrome pieces, the interior is two-tone: black, and a kind of dull slate gray. Some people are replacing the chrome with pieces in Magnetic Gray Metallic (MGM). But MGM is not the shade of gray that's already found on the truck (too dark). Cement, on the other hand, is too light.

Unless you want to introduce yet another color (making the scheme 3-tone), the solution is to paint the replacement pieces in a color that more closely matches what is there. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for paint?

 

Have you looked at the Meso kits?

 

I ended up going with @MESO black door handle covers, Army Green vent rings, climate control knobs and center console trim kits from also from @MESO, and the steering wheel logo and glove box letters from AJT in Army Green.

 

That's what I'm working with. The door handle kit is perfect (black is a good match there), but unless I want to black out my whole dash, the rest of the pieces will have to be painted. I want those parts to match my climate control knobs (a slate gray, not MGM).

There’s no color to match the climate control rings. As mentioned, paint or just replace with black. I have an MGM and went all black trim

 

My exterior is Army Green as well. I thought about putting the interior bits in AG, but concluded it would be too distracting. Two colors are enough -- black, and the kind of gray that's already on the climate control knobs, the head unit bezel, the part around the gearshift, etc. I kind of like that graphite color. The issue for me is finding a paint that would match it.

 

Dude! I just noticed the stupid glovebox lock after finishing my de chrome...now this!!

 

Nice!!! I like blacked out stuff but sometimes when you add a touch body color parts(AG in this case) it ties it all together.

 

Looking at your door handle covers, the "chrome delete kit" and "vent ring kit". Any idea when the last two kits will be back in stock? Thanks!
