I recently asked a company representative if the Hilux kit would work on a Tacoma tail gate.

Check out this video on the review for the Hilux.
Runny Dahl a 4 Wheeler in Australia has on his Hilux. Also check out their Facebook page. Two videos of its strength and durability.

I think we should start a group buy!

    Thoughts?

    I'm in.

I'm not sold on the idea, but it does have potential, if laid out right.
Toss a toolbox full of sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers in the back of the truck = Rattle Trap.

Looks legit. If that thing works, it appears to have more storage space than the actual OEM bed storage compartment.

this would be my concern...definitely subbing and staying tuned.

Looks like you'd have to add a lot of bungies/quickfists/whatever method of securing depending on what it is you're securing, to make sure it doesn't bounce/rattle around or all pile at the bottom when closed.

Would also be curious to know how this fits up against the tailgate bracing.

That looks nice and also very expensive with gas struts and compound hinges (maybe?). Also looks like it removes or modifies the existing ribs/braces.

The tailgate is already like a popcan.
I can't see where doing something like whats being displayed, retains any better structural integrity.
Whoever is designing it, that heavy felt is all for final display.
I wanna SEE how the idea is being built, and with what materials.

    Debbie Downer here.
I'm not necessarily knocking the idea in the dirt, but that gate (the whole bed of the truck for that matter) is WEAK.

I’m thinking long gun, rod tube holder. If it’s built well, waterproof, it’s gonna be spendy.

Yep, in opinion it would need to be water-tite to be useful at all.

Right? I was wondering what goes in the tailgate. Rope or jumper cables? Fill it with Styrofoam and put a rifle and pistol?

Looks like a fairweather tailgate. Any extra storage is welcome, but the design would need to be braced/watertight considering how it would open/closed faced up. For those of us with truck caps its less of and issue, but still...
