I don't see a teeth on the shaft.. The pulley has a groove in it..Witch way does it have to face now?
I was assuming the shaft would have the teeth to match the groove?

You have to use a crank pulley installation tool. You can't just bang it on there with a hammer or install it by hand.

I’ve always just lined it up and used the bolt to press it on.

Lol. You don't need no crank pulley install tool for this type of pulley.

That thing goes in there by hand, one way. Spin it until it catches. You'll know when it's in. Once it's in give it a small whack with your open palm then zap the bolt down with your impact and call it a day.

OP replace your leaking crank seal. It looks disgusting down there.

Also, that wear is common on billet pulleys. Mine looks like that as well after a short amount of miles. Put some grease around the snout of the pulley and install as I instructed you above. Go wash your hands and call it a day as previously stated.

Once it is aligned and started just use the bolt to draw it up tight and torque it.

    That seal should be fine.

The only reaso I wouldn’t use an impact to tighten the crank bolt is because I can’t get an impact on it without pulling the engine or removing the radiator, condenser... seems like the perfect way to tighten a bolt where the torque isn’t super critical when a torque wrench would just turn the engine over.

Huh, I stand corrected. I've never seen a balancer that could just be slipped on.

also make sure the key stays in place on the crankshaft while you're sliding the pulley on. I had a bitch of a time keeping the key in place when i swapped mine years ago.

Also, the seal will wear the billet aluminum away eventually causing a leak

In my previous comment, I emphasized don’t scratch the crankshaft, thinking the seal rides on the crank, but it does not, so a little scratch won’t hurt anything. I’ve done hundreds in my previous life as a auto tech, never used any special tool. There’s a bit of a technique that’s hard to describe. It’s not that hard to get out.

The truck revs up so fast with those nonstoptuning pullies.. I was surprised!
