First thing I would get, would be a CZ shadow 2 or CZ Accu Shadow.

Hey Pat, I have not forgotten about this. I am just a boomer that forgot to take pictures and upload; anybody curious PM me, i'll list the build sheet shortly. Round count is about 400, eats brass and steel just fine, never had a jam so far. I will have about 4 10 rounders to give away as well to whoever buys it.

It would make either a great first AR, or just a basic bitch range toy. It's been sitting in a plano case for over a year since the last time it's even been fired lol.

I was hoping to ask $750 for it, I feel like that's a good price these days?

It's an Anderson lower mated to a PSA 16" M4 Carbine 1:7 Nitride 13.5" Lightweight M-Lok MOE Freedom Rifle Kit w/ MBUS. I added a fin grip, raptor charging handle, and an R-15 556 Gamma Muzzle brake. It has 2 magpul stocks to choose from, as well as a sling I can throw in. Also have the 10 rounders.

Ok guys, haven’t shot guns since I was a young adult. Looking to get a pistol for at home protection. What do you recommend and what steps do I need to complete to purchase?

Covid sucks. I would say go into a shop that lets you feel the firearm. (Shop i went into recently would not allow me to hold the pistol o_O) luckily i had shot that type before and was ok with it. You want to make sure it feels good in your hands (both left and right). A shotgun is always great for home defense, but if you're looking for a pistol, Glock and XDs are great. (IMO). Tons of others out there that are great too.

I currently own a Glock23 (selling it to a TW member) and a XD 9MM. Both are great guns, but I think I like the Glock better to be honest

Oh...and go out and use it with others from your household.... If nobody can use it, its like picking up a rock. Might as well chuck it as hard as you can at an intruder. Lol.. My 10 year old has shot all my guns, and he has learned to respect them.

For HD I’d get a full size anything you like with a rail and a good light setup.

Then spend too much on as much ammo as you can find and practice, practice, practice.

Keep it loaded with hollow points and figure out where your line is at your house where you’re officially in the danger zone and have a clear shot path that doesn’t point at your neighbors. Mine is the staircase coming upstairs to the bedrooms.. shooting down the stairs puts my bullets into dirt, and legally if someone is coming upstairs then I’m inarguably in danger.

This, all of this. And a USCCA membership will pay for itself if god forbid it ever comes to that

Erik I will throw my $.02 in here and say that if you’re itching for the pistol for HD, find one that fits your hand well.

I am 5’10” with normal-ish hand size and found the full size HK USP fit GREAT for me. My Glock 17 fits okay and isn’t as well built (See my avi, I am slightly biased), but Glocks are the Hiluxes of the gun world, they simply keep ok chugging.

I am of the opinion that 9mm hollow points is completely sufficient for HD so don’t let people who don’t understand ballistics tell you why you NEED .45ACP.

Find a full size pistol you like, buy a light and Truglo sights, find some ammo (lol), and then practice practice practice like everybody else said.

No problem, let me know if you need any other help. If it’s Peninsula Tactical that you’re referring to, I can recommend at least 1-2 other shops that are just as good and don’t have the line. Brian Nussbaum in Burlingame runs an incredibly friendly and tight shop, though he is a bit pricier than most. If you want to hold and feel some different basic pistols, Bass Pro really isn’t that bad (I’d go to Lodi, the one near me in San Jose sucks ass).

If you can find a killer deal for a pistol on the roster (Fuck this state), then the best FFL in the Bay Area is Rob at Farwest Photography in Santa Clara (Don’t let the name fool you).

always down to get more people into this addiction.....I mean hobby.
