Totally understand bro. Whatever makes you feel better about it. Believe me when I say I don't feel good about it being that way, but the latter fix for it is way more trouble than it is worth especially since it technically ain't broke.

Sold my sliders and haven't looked back. I'm not a huge crawler though. Sans rock sliders, it feels much better IMO

I have a feeling that the noticed jerking from the valve body, is going to be attributed to the slop from the soft engine mounts. Once stiffer ones are in there, you'll have more shift directed towards the tires, and less rebound from the engine. More crisp shifts.

 

I took my RCI sliders off 2 years ago and sold them for this very reason. I figured I’d shed the truck of unneeded weight and I never used them as intended. Plus I put a few bucks back in my pocket.

 

140 pounds is 140 pounds... Plus probably 10 in bolts. I'm with you. I just drove the White Rim Trail a few weeks ago and didn't need the sliders at all. On my 1st gen I drove that in Death Valley and all over the west for 7 years and didn't have sliders or skids for all but the last year when I had sliders. They only protected me at the mall parking lot.

 

It may stiffen/crisp them up some, but its just shifted this hard since I installed it like 7 years ago. It just jolts into gear, not so much "backlash" or "slop". 1st to 2nd gear chirps, even with my heavy ass truck. I'm sure it has changed over time and I just havent noticed it though. I'm interested and excited to see the results regardless!

As far as A-Pillar gauge mounts, is Lo-tek still the only option?

 

Yes. Unless getting the generic heat moldable ones and making it work, which probably wouldn't look as good.
