Does it just attach the metal or do you have a section of tube running through still?

I just ran the flex duct right through the firewall. I didn't add the connector plug they sell or anything, which is why the tape is there. It's basically just to make sure that it stays wedged.

Edit: I didn't get a picture of it with the cowl off, but it's in there a couple inches.

Just got mine installed, not a huge fan of snorkels so this is great. Preciate all the tips and tricks!

I gave up on the aluminum tube. Went with flexible to mounting plate, no more noises and will take away the flexing from the firewall:)

Are self-tappers the best way to attach the mesh? Curious if others have another solution?

I used silicone and it hasn't moved. Big dabs of it in a few places and it's been solid so far - 6 months ish...

Mine is still going great. More room for fun on that side. I put a worm gear on mine to keep it from making any noise. There was some factory bolt thing right there I put a large washer and nylon nut on. It’s weak by the way so don’t crank down too hard haha41A73A17-4396-44FB-A372-8C3546413F55.jpg

Not that I’ve noticed. I ran a single one with 35’s and a 2.5 gallon tank and it never tripped the thermal protection and I ran it solid probably twenty minutes under the hood after wheeling all day. They have 100% duty cycle, too. They don’t run much with no tank, maybe 2 minutes per 35” tire from 12-26 psi.
