A flat tailgate panel will be a nice flat surface to change a shitty bottom (and away from the cabin). I’m sure you can find a suitable changing pad in similar dimensions

89823251-024D-4034-9B4E-714476DE009E.jpg The Graco infant seat with this click connect is about as snug as you will get a car seat. You tighten the straps as much as you can and then fold that lever down and it snugs the living shit out of it. We bought 1 car seat and multiple bases so the grandparents didn’t have to buy The whole set up, only the base and the car seat just moves around with the baby.

Goodluck, I don't have any kids but I do travel with my nephews quite a bit. I would recommend, whenever your kid is forward facing, some kick mats to protect the back of your seats. Always have snacks/candy in the center console. :lalala:

I am showing my wife your picture! Thank you for the advice and tid bits! Yeah we have 2 car seats and mom's car will be the primary vehicle but I still want to maximize the Tacoma if possible.

I am so excited for this ride you have no idea!

I have already asked if I could get extra ratchet straps for tying down the car seat in the truck bed. I will let you know how that goes!

Yep a big congrats. I'll reiterate what some have said that saved my trucks an ears.

1- Yes to the liner under the car seat
2- But even more important, learn how to install seat properly.
    3- See #2 above
4- ear plugs if Mama is riding with you. Drown her and them out on long drives. :D No plugs if she isn't. You have precious cargo that YOU need to take care of and that includes listening. Period.
    5- See #4 above
6- Drive safely as you have precious cargo.
    And finally:
    Seriously on # 2 #4 and #6. Period.

    And congrats again.

It’s going to get tight, and I mean real, uncomfortably tight (that’s what she said). If you can make it through that for a year or two, then you’re solid. Because the kiddo will eventually sit front facing and life will be good again... somewhat. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. First, the car seat... stick an older towel down under any car seat. Don’t buy anything fancy. It’s going to get ruined at some point in time. You don’t really worry about the baby too much the first year in terms of making a mess in the truck. Wait for the toddler years for that! Biggest thing I took is always carry wipes and some extra diapers in any car. NOT just in the diaper bag. Plus, I use wipes to clean my interior when at a light or just sitting in the truck LOL! I also found this car seat (link below) to fit real nice in the taco. Debated it with my first kid but got it for our second kid and what a difference from the first time around. Many others also recommend this car seat in a thread somewhere because of safety rating and it’s compact design that fits nicely in our rigs. My last piece of advise other than make sure you sit your child In the center... take whatever you need out of the storage bins under the rear seats and make sure you buy two bases for the car seat. One for your truck and one for your wife’s vehicle. Trust me when I say this will make life easy. Be patient and enjoy the craziness that is to come. My daughter hated red lights.... I would sit and curse under my breathe for any red light to turn green lol but my son couldn’t car less.
