I did find another use for the hard tonneau cover. It makes for a great picnic spot when you can't eat indoors and all the outdoor seats are taken.

www.shipbikes.com is the company all the OEM companies use for their labels - considerably cheaper than the Bike Flights contrary to popular belief. most don't even know it exists

I've got something in the works in a few weeks. I am excited to share it

I've used ship bikes when I sold my capra, by far the cheapest by about $50 for my particular box and place I was shipping to.

I’ve checked their quotes for the last few bikes I’ve shipped. They were more expensive than bikeflights. Very much a ‘results may vary’ kinda thing I think. It is good to have options though.

When a friend can’t make time to get a ride in and goes for a walk. Friends don’t let friends power walk

Anyone been on the 2020 Norco Optic? It was high on my list when I first saw it released, but I kind of drifted from it for whatever reason. Kind of circling back around. Seems like it would be a pretty great one bike quiver for me here. Geometry to ride aggressive, suspension to keep it lively on mellower stuff.

Moab was terrible, don't go there...

Got my daughter on the bike! I ended up putting the kids seat on the carbon enduro bike instead of the hardtail this weekend for...reasons. It worked fine, mounted up easily, and didn't seem like it would stress the carbon frame at all. The setup worked great even for our daughter, who's only 19 months. We didn't do much more than some really smooth single track and dirt roads. I can picture taking her on some harder trails once she's old enough to understand what's happening and communicate better.

Dude that's awesome! I have a 7 month old little girl and I can not wait for this! How do you like that shotgun setup? I've been meaning to look in to appropriate ages for various kid haulers.

    not enough.
eamo usually clears out fairly quickly. combination of dirt, lots of sun, and some wind. Zion/Virgin looked like amazing weather as well.

    OH. That's an excellent idea.

This was our first weekend using the shotgun. It was great; easy to mount, appears that it'd fit pretty much any bike, doesn't add too much bulk or inhibit riding much, and our daughter figured out how to use it immediately. The only thing that wasn't ideal was pedaling bo-legged, though you're not gonna ride that hard with your kid on there so it's not a huge deal.

We put her in bike trailers once she was around 9 months and it was fine but she never really liked it. Sometimes she'd fall asleep, but most times she'd just get grumpy. Also, we only real mountain bike and most trailers are no good for singletrack. I had always intended to try one of these, but now she's big enough for the shotgun seat and it just seems much better suited for a modern mountain bike.

I’m on a fluid, which is basically the non-carbon version of the optic. I’m a fan, I’m on an XL and this bike barely fits on my 1up rack. The wheel base is so long it kinda makes some things difficult. I would opt for more than 120 in the back. 125 on the optic but it has a better shock that the fluid. I test rode an optic at Santos and it was a ton of fun. I wouldn’t really have any reserves about it unless you do a lot of big stuff.

Ive got a buddy with an XXL Jeffsey, even longer wheelbase than you've got. He can only get a click or two on my 1Up racks.

I've been pretty happy with my Transition Scout's capabilities and they are fairly similar geo and travel wise. The Scout is a 27.5 with 130/150 compared to the Optic with 125/140 but bigger wheels. I'm just thinking the sportier rear end (heh) might serve me better for the pedally mellower stuff than a 140+ mid travel bike and I think the Optic will be a good bit more capable than something like the Spur which will likely leave me wanting a big bike.

Tallboy, Following, and Rascal may also fit this bill. Ripley AF and the new Stumpy might be in the conversation too but there's less info out there on them. I think the Tallboy and Rascal are going to feel softer and less poppy/playful relative to the class (more big bike feel) and the Following is going to be a bit less capable but very poppy and fun. The Optic (on paper and from reviews) really seems to strike the balance between playful and capable that I'm looking for.
