Can the remote start on the new 2021 Toyota Tacoma tRD Sport be programmed NOT to stop when opening the door?I have a ford edge (2020) that has remote start and continues to run when you enter the vehicle, however, it you touch the brake before pressing the start button, it shuts off. Can the Tacoma be made to react the same?It would save on the starter constantly shutting off and on.

it doesn't appear this is possible, yet...it is frustrating because I have other vehicles that will stay running when the door is opened as well. Toyota 'engineered' this safety feature into these trucks and I don't think there's a work-around/bypass available...

Nope, it’s frustrating to say the least. My Subaru is also the same way.

Not unless you get a version that uses a key. It's their safety feature. I imagine everyone has some sort of patent on their way of doing things.

    I hate that “feature”. Useless.

With that said, I heard someone mention they were going to try and put a piece of tape over the plunger for the drivers side door. I guess that would trick the car into thinking the door was still closed. I’m not sure how it would work after getting in though (I.e foot on brake and pressing start button).

people have been trying that trick for a decade. never works lol

if the engineers at Viper and Compustar haven't made a workaround, I'm confident there isn't one.
