I know @Idahotaco88 has knowledge of the TSB / ECU flash. Not sure if he can help with an OV tune.

So I have a 2014 v6 access cab manual trans 4x4 and in the next 6-12 months I'll be needing at least a double cab, I'd like to keep the 6 ft bed though and I'll suck it and get an automatic trans too. Question is, 2nd gen, or 3rd gen. I like my 2014, but I'm not single anymore and need more room in the back of the cab now. A Tundra is on my list too but I can fit a DCLB taco in the garage in the winter which is kind of nice and I wouldn't be able to fit a Tundra. A lot of the reviews crap on the 3rd gen engine and trans. If it all cost about the same what would you guys go with?

Need more space then 1st gen or else I'd agree with you. Yeah I'm not sold on the manual trans' anymore in the Tacomas.

If you do decide to go with an automatic 3rd gen. Test drive them as much as possible. I've found that mine searches for gears most between 60-70mph, pretty annoying if you do a lot of highway driving.

I've heard that an ECU flash or OVTune can help tremendously though.

And if I get a good enough deal on a 3rd gen and supercharge it, maybe the gear hunting will be better. Part of me likes the relative simplicity of the 2013/14/15 2nd gen Tacomas though. Just enough tech to be nice but not so much as it feels like the car is truly in control and you're just giving it suggestions which is how it feel like driving my Wife's Subaru Crosstrek with all of the automatic breaking, lane keeping assist, etc electronic nanny aids.

Speaking of anyone with a 3rd gen that has all of that new tech? How's it work or not work?

I came from a 98 1st Gen. So the tech was definitely something I had to get used to. That being said, I only have an SR5 which has adaptive cruise control (which is actually amazing), lane keep assist (I never turn it on) and the pre-collision system (it's only ever gone off once when someone pulled out in front of me, even then it was a warning to brake and the truck didn't seem to do anything further).

The saga of my Inferno continues.
I ended up taking my truck to Sydni (p&s detail products specialist in Boise)

Well, I pick it up tonight and she tells me she's never seen anything like it. She was trying all her compounds, doing test spots ect. and couldn't get it corrected. She said she even took what they call "gravel in a bottle" to it and nothing happened.

She pointed out to me that my door jambs are almost flat, like there is no clear on them. I asked in the Inferno thread if anyone else has noticed this.

Anyways. I'm happy with what she was able to do, she cleaned it up as good as should could and put p&s sole on it. I plan on buying a bottle of sole & coating it every 6 months to build up a layer of protection (per her reccomenedation).

What do you guy think, should I trade her in yet? Jk. I'd probably lose my ass at this point. It's just paint.

Have a bunch of spare parts laying around. These were all purchased for a first gen. Not sure if they fit on newer models too. I sold my truck yesterday so just hoping to get these out of the basement. Let me know if you want anything. I'm in Boise.

Also have a set of bolt-on bump stops

Any 3rd gen V6 owners interested in getting their trucks OVTuned on Saturday near Boise?

I can also perform factory TSBs.
