My 2014 warranty clearly says on page 17-18 of the maintenance and warranty guide that the Toyota warranty is 3/36 EXCEPT for items listed as 8/80. On page 18, these items include the "converter and protector". This guy insists that my warranty is up and he wants $60 to fasten the shield, I have 36,100 miles on my 2014. I've had to copy the warranty pages, highlight them, and send it to him to prove my case. Then he proceeds to tell me that I need new plugs..... I changed them less than 200 miles ago, a new cabin filter, which I clean and change religiously and have multiple spares, and I need to have my blower motor removed and cleaned.

Are there any honest dealerships around anymore?

UPDATE.... dealer just called me again, said that he found out its covered. No I'm sorry, no you were right, nothing. I just wonder how many others have already been screwed.

Sounds like someone else told him off. I'm sure there's some sort of "make sure you try to sell them something" tactics in most businesses, but maybe you got the wrong guy in the dealership. I find I hit and miss with dealerships.

This is a prime example of why I learned to wrench. Stealerships and dishonest mechanics. Warranties are worthless imo. Unless your motor or trans blow in 36k then i see a use for it. But how often does that happen?
