Bilstein vs Eibach

So you gained 2.25", what is the max you can gain?

 

Man idk if I should install it some people say you need a diff some people say no somethings gotta to give lol

 

I was advised by Headstrong Off-road that it’s not needed and a waste of time/money on the 3rd gens.

 

Yes, I gained 2.25” of front lift on the first clip. I believe the 3rd clip can provide around 3” of lift but is only recommended for people running heavy bumpers and winches. My truck rides very nice on the first setting.

 

Perfect I am running a heavy bumper.

 

I wishni knew more about this to make a decision seems like everyone is 50/50 yes and no. Thanks for you knowledge though

 

What a nice ride man. Good call on the Eibach. I've only heard of the 5100s at that price point and almost pulled the trigger on some until I read your post. I definitely wanted something that would raise higher than 2 in to make it worth it. I'm definitely going Eibach now. Any advice?

 

Thank you! I’m still very happy with my setup and have no regrets. I’d do it the same way all over again. The Eibach kit is a lot of juice for the squeeze. Hi guys, I have a silly question. When you lift a Tacoma say 2" do you need to install longer brake lines or there is enough slack for over extender. How about the drive shaft ?, or maybe 2" is kinda the max before other alterations must be done?, I suppose the re-gear for the rear diff. Our '17 off road is stock but a bit hight will be nice, don't plan on rock crawling or adding heavy armor just a cap at some point, being able to load it up with camping gear and maybe tow a light boat (Lund 14' with a Honda 25hp).

A regear is not necessary unless you are put on tires that are much larger than stock. lifting does not affect gear ratios.

 

I have 5100’s all around on my 3rd gen and I like it. OEM coils, not OME coils. Just because Bilstien recommends to use the factory coils. 1” block in the rear. No complaints after 9k miles on all kinds of roads. I can’t compare to other brands since this is my first suspension lift. But it was very affordable and install was very easy. I went with this setup because there are is a ton of information on it and it just worked for my needs. Let’s see how long they last

 

No. Didn’t have to mess with anything like that. No differential drop. Simple and straightforward. I did have to replace the front needle bearing with the ECGS bushing.

Why did you opt out of the differential drop? Just preference or you were advised?

 

I was advised by Marie & her husband when they were at Headstrong Off-road that the differential drop for the 3rd gens is a waste of time and money because it does very little. The same advice was also given to me by many on here as well.

 

How are grade E KO2s on the road though? I'm debating on the 275/70/17 grade E and 265/70/17 grade C. I feel like the 275s will look more aggressive, which is the look I'm going for. However the 265 might not be that noticeable of a difference and have a better ride quality and MPG. Any thoughts?
