Exactly. I’m not sure if slotted rotors (stop tech) can be turned either, someone else can chime in on that. Since centrics are so cheap I’d rather just replace them every pad change which for me is about 60k. Hard to justify the cost difference tbh.

Regarding Centric vs Stoptech. Yes, same parent company but there seem to be all sorts of versions of the rotors. I ran into this when shopping for my Integra yesterday. There's also a "high carbon" option which looks interesting and is a bit of a compromise in price. I'm going to be ordering some rotors soon but still unsure which ones to pick.

    In order of cost:

    Centric Premium 120.44129 $46
    https://centricparts.com/part-detail/12044129
    https://www.amazon.com/Centric-Parts-120-44129-Premium-Coating/dp/B000BZXR0Y

    Stoptech Premium Cryo 120-44129 $78
    https://centricparts.com/part-detail/12044129cry
    https://www.amazon.com/StopTech-120-44129CRY-Brake-Rotor/dp/B004SI03LG

    Centric High Carbon 125.44129 $100
    https://centricparts.com/part-detail/12544129
    https://www.amazon.com/StopTech-125-44129-Premium-High-Carbon-Rotor/dp/B003K3GNKU

Stoptech Premium High Carbon Cryo 125.44129CRY $115
    https://centricparts.com/part-detail/12544129cry
    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sph-12544129cry

Then you start getting into the slotted and drilled options - which I'm not considering. I wish I understood the high carbon and cryo stuff more - not sure which would be more important. I'm leaning towards just going all in. Pretty much anything I can do to prevent any issues down the road.

My OEM rotors started the pulsating braking from infancy but got exponentially worse after towing in the mountains. Needed a better solution and ordered the recommended set.

Seems the StopTech 126.44129CSL / 126.44129CSR quality has dropped since the original post. Mine each weigh 18.2lbs, not 19.4 like the OP’s in 2017. Will weigh my OEMs when I do the job to see if our scales are just that far off

Cost 144each due to $10 in tax, but free shipping from tire rack.

Edit: OEM rotors weighed in at 17.6lbs (40k miles). So stoptechs are .6lb heavier/each

It was discovered a while back that StopTech stopped using the heavier rotors, they do still have more veins so it is still a cooling upgrade and better than most other stock replacement options. But not as great as they used to be.

By comparing mine to your pictures it looks like the weight savings comes from considerably thinner cooling veins. Hope they’re worth the $

Post back with results. I'm not due for breaks yet but been wanting to go to these when the time comes. Wanna make sure they're still worth it lol

Right. But you still have far more cooling surface area than stock, hence they are a cooling performance gain over stock.

Performed this upgrade to my 2014 and have developed a serious glaze on the rotors after 15k. No shops in the area will resurface the rotors due to the slotted design. Just FYI if you go with the slotted design. The setup does a great job at stopping my truck but the glaze causes a groan on slow release of the pedal.

Might be worth trying to remove the rotors and using sand paper to clean the glaze. Depending on its severity the problem might disappear. I had to do that recently while waiting on new parts to come in. My OEM rotors got trashed from towing through the Mtns.

Has anyone done the rear disc upgrade from Stoptech? Would love to hear some reviews. I'm super heavy in the rearBaja East Coast sunrise.jpg

You should plan to swap your master cylinder if going to rear discs. The rear disc caliper requires far more volume and without an MC upgrade you may have soft pedal and excessive pedal travel before brake engagement.

    Brutal.

wonder if I could get away with just doing the TRD pads and getting rotors turned... my truck only has 70,000 KM (not miles) on it but my wear indicators touch when I press the breaks. I don't know what the original owner did with the truck.... I carry a fair bit of weight though...2 x 12 foot kayaks, prinsu, kb voodoo bars, tent and skids with E rated tires and did a lot of city driving over last few years. I could wait until boarder finally opens and order rotors to there for much cheaper and go pick them up for way less... that is if the boarder ever opens...

I have it but have not got around to it. Was debating but recently said F it I'm going for it. Also picked up the stoptech BBK upgrade for it so ill be all in. Talked with a few folks and they love it. softer pedal but stopping is clutch. I am also HAF myself. (7k lbs)

Awesome! I'm probably 7,100 at our lightest so we're unfortunately pretty close. I did decide to do the front rotor from Stoptech, trd pads, and SS brake lines for now and see how that works.

Please give us your thoughts when you get around to it

will do. You will like the front. I have a set of Wilwood aero6 calipers upfront with 338 4runner sized rotors and s-lines and it's helpful. the sucker still does not stop super fast but it's way better. I am likely going to move to the stoptech with 2 piece rotor up front at some point. Feedback was it will have a little better heat dissipation from the SSO guys hence why I got the stoptech rears instead of the Wilwood rears.

I had the T4R setup first then the Wilwood setup (same rotor size). If anyone wants to upgrade a T4R setup the RR Racing kit is great.
