So I just bought a smoked 3rd brake light for my '09. I pull out the OEM one and come to realize the connectors are different? It was advertised as fitting "plug and play" but doesn't seem to be that way to me. I'm a complete novice at wiring so any ideas what to do to hook this up?

Damn. Was hoping I wouldn't have to do that lol. I have a soldering iron so I could try to modify if I needed to...

The new harness is the one on the left? That doesn't look like any stock Toyota harness, so I doubt it's "plug and play" with any truck.

You have a few options, sending it back is one. You can cannibalize the old 3rd brake light and use it's harness.
Or there is a sketchy option of bending those metal pins on the new harness and sticking them into the plug. Just make sure you use lots of electrical tape

Did it come with instructions? I'm wondering if that third option I gave you is the actual instruction here. Sketchy.

Funnily enough, it come with NO instructions whatsoever! And none on the Ebay product description either. I'm at a loss. I sent the seller a message, hopefully they get back to me. May end up just returning, but I appreciate the response!

You could cut off both plugs and use some spade connectors. But I would not cut the factory harness if I were you. I guess you could cut the old light harness off and solder it to the new light with heat shrink tubing. The blue is power and white is ground on the truck side harness. But I would just send it back and get one that's actually made for a toyota.

That connector on the left is made to plug into a 194 bulb socket. Don’t know how that plays into what you’re trying to do, but that’s what it is.

Blue Wire on Factory Connector should be Power.
    White/Black wire should be ground.

Before you cut any wires. I’d take a test meter and check.
I’m not going to tell you what to do, because I personally don’t think you should cut off the OEM connector.

BTW, if you are going to try to make this work.
You need to know what wires are supposed to be Power and Ground on the NEW Light.
Your odds are 50/50. Usually Red is Power and Black is ground on Automotive DC.
I’d test the light before connecting it to any OEM wires.

AND Just in case that you don't realize it. You will need to clean that mess up around the hole so you can reseal it or you will be getting a wet headliner.
