Which would be better to drive in the snow/ice? My 2010 Tacoma with stock tires(4x2) or the Wife's Mazda 3 with stock tires but front wheel drive. The truck tried to get away from me a few times this morning but the conditions are going to be worse tonight and tomorrow morning when I will be driving.

Take the 3. FWD > RWD in snow.

I have both and they both will suck in the snow (in 2x4). The 3 is the worst front wheel drive car I have ever driven on ice and I've put 200k miles on mine. That car is unsafe without winter tires on snow/ice.

But given your choices I would take the 3.

I second the above statement about the Mazda 3. I put 98K miles on my 07 and it was the worst front wheel drive car in the snow I ever drove. It was shit for traction and slide all over the place. Made for an interesting drive to say the least.

Mazda 3 because lower center of gravity means less chance of a rollover if your snow driving skills (or the skills of those around you) are not up to the task.

The 3. The 07 Impala SS with summer tires I used to have was way better in the snow than the Taco is if I just leave it in 2wd. I'd definitely rather have the FWD.

I use to have the 3. It was good in the icy mess that we get in Arkansas. Mine had traction control so it did good in the slick spots. It also was the 5 speed manual. Put it in neutral on the over passes and it did fine. Also try to keep it close to the shoulder to grab the bumpy snow instead of staying on the slick tracks that develop on the highway.

The car did suck going up the driveway though.

Well the Mazda got me to work and back (65miles). It handed better then the Tacoma but the roads were a little bit better. We don't get a foot of snow too often so hopefully I won't have to worry about it anymore.

100%stock, except for the exhaust leak and custom windshield crack mod
I would drive the truck just because they handle curbs better if you happen to hit one.:notsure:
