My trucks air dam provides more down force when doing 180 mph on those interstate roads.

180 mph?! Do you mean kph? I’ve never even had mine above 115mph, how are you getting up to 180?

Some trucks do have warnings about removing the air dam and overheating—see the discussions on the Colorado’s owner manual and the warnings in there on removing the air dam and overheating. With that said, I’ve not seen any reports or manufacturer’s recommendations that suggest the air dam removal can cause overheating on a Tacoma. But it’s not total bullshit from crazy land.

Most manufactures say to remove it esp if off roading or in snow. For the highway its good as it funnels air around the front tires and pushes it under the vehicle. However, as you can see not all models have it so its very brand and model dependent

Yeah, it works fine without it. It’s a little noisier and a little less efficient. Mine has endured plenty of impacts with boulders and stuff and just popped back with a few scratches or gouges, but if you tear it off on the trail then you’ll know it’s not for you.

Right l am aware or air deflectors existing, my car for example does not have a grille so airflow over the radiator comes from a deflector underneath.

The TRD Off Road doesn’t even come with an air dam. But on my OR I just removed it. After an accident a couple years ago the bumper needed to be replaced and they put it on with an air dam and I never noticed, until I recently got bigger wheels and then I noticed it, didn’t fit the curvature of the wheel, etc. Looks great now! Haven’t noticed a difference. Gas mileage is worse because of the bigger wheels though.

I drove from Maine to Chicago and back in mid July last year, no air dam, no problem
