Pretty much any question that starts with 'What's up with men...' can be answered by 'Because he was bored'.

I started making it when I was broke, honestly
I was looking to save $$ any way I could after I first moved out, and you can get a lot of lunches out of a loaf of bread, a king-size tub of store-brand peanut butter, and jelly you stole from your parent's jam cupboard!

Now I make bread because it tastes better than store-bought, and if you're talking apples-to-apples for quality it's still cheaper. I don't bake my own nearly as much as I used to though, because the GF is gluten free and the smell of freshly-baked bread in the house is like her own special torture

Hey guys I am doing voice to text so I don’t know how good this is going to come out because I’m still in the parking lot at Walmart but I just went in to go get oil change stuff and grab a new Ozark Trail 26 quart cooler because I have the 52 and that’s a little bit big for one person so I had to get something smaller that is easier to manage it doesn’t drain port but I’m gonna put one in there. Anyway the point is of this post I am in Seekonk Massachusetts Apple Walmart I was prepared to pay $86 for this new cooler and somehow magically just today they put it on clearance for $45. So if anyone needs a 26 quart Ozark Trail Yeti knock off cooler and you’re near Seekonk I would advice getting your butt out of bed and getting to Walmart for a cooler. For the difference in cooler cost that I was about to pay I covered my oil change and my wife’s and snagged an Ozarks trail day pack on clearance also a steal at 5 bucks. I am happy I made it to the Walmart tonight. I’ll review my grammar when I get home :D

Can't win in the winter. Either change it in the cold or warm up the garage and change it with melting snow and ice dripping on me.

Just changed mine this weekend. The trick is to pull it into the garage first thing in the morning, before the sun comes around and thaws the driveway out. Did a tire rotation and changed out the serp belt, idler, and tensioner while I was in there and I was drip-free. :notsure:

    Only when it needs it...

For the Ram I wait until Advance is running an oil change special on Mobil 1 (which is pretty much whenever) and can get a full synthetic change for about $40, and it's like $20 for some high-mileage conventional on the '69.

Yup. Never had a shop change my oil on any of my vehicles as long as I've been driving. It's part that I'm particular and know exactly what oil went into it and that it was done right, part less hassle for me to just do it at home when I have a chance than drive to a shop and wait around.

I just grabbed some oil last night at the wal mart level. :notsure: BUT they had Toyota OEM filters, so, I spent an extra dollar on that instead of the Fram, because why not? Got 2 5L and 1 1L (wife's car too). I haven't done an order on Rock Auto in a long time, usually when I do I drop in a few oil filters and cabin/engine air filters. Can't remember what oil it was, it was in a white bottle, maybe Castrol? I don't really fuss.

I do my own. last time the dealer did it they stripped out a skid plate bolt, and I'm above the free oil change mileage anyway at this point (22k) so, I'd be paying for them to orangutan fix my truck - no thanks.

I got a killer deal on Shell Rotella Gas Truck Full Synthetic a few months ago. It worked out to about $10 for a 5 quart jug. I bought every one my local Advance Auto had. I also bought a bulk pack of Motorcraft filters off Amazon. My first four changes end up costing me about $15 each and I have two left before I need to buy more oil.

I was changing the Sierra oil when it was warm, but usually had to pay for one during the winter. #nodamngarage.

I got really quick at it, and actually this past winter I did it even in January. I'll be doing the Ferd myself as well.

Gah this all reminds me this spring is maintenance season! I have to do my diffs and grease all my fittings, and probably do a tire rotation/oil change in April or so too after my road trip. :notsure: And apparently paint and put on a skid and my sliders. I will probably touch up the paint on the sliders tonight and let them dry for a few days and put them on this weekend maybe. Either that or leave them off for the road trip, saves some weight and an "oh shit" moment if a bolt comes loose after a few k miles. I'll probably leave them off now that I think about it.... but will need to paint those, and paint my soon-to-be-new-to-me skid plate that I just remembered I am buying yesterday.

I just get the oil and filter, and wait for the right time in the winters if I need to. Every so often you get a solid day to do it, throw some cardboard on the ground. My old mazda didn't have a skid plate, but I had to put it on ramps. I'd say in and out the mazda and the tacoma is about 10 minutes, on a random 40 degree day and a hot engine anyway, that's fine. Would be less if I didn't have that stripped out skid plate bolt to deal with.

Wife's camry is a hybrid and needs to be lifted to do an oil change >:| I need to see if I can find a set of ramps on CL or something. Used to borrow some with the mazda, didn't need to use them but made it easier.

Yep, I don’t like bringing my truck to the stealership unless I absolutely have to. Usually, tires and alignment about the only things I can’t do on my own (and tires, I usually buy wheel/tire sets off Craigslist so I haven’t had to buy tires in years.)

Well yeah... that too. Even the wrecked truck though, it didn’t have the stock set when it was totaled. When I traded the black truck, I made them swap over the black wheels and let them keep the crappy stock Continentals.

Yea, last time I brought a vehicle to toyota, the tech was trying to sell me on a new rack and pinion because it was covered in oil, motor oil. I hadnt cleaned the motor or anything else after doing a timing set and valve cover gaskets on it since it was just a beater. Thankfully i had a good relatioship with my service writer and she would let me go look at stuff in the shop and talk directly with the techs. That was on my 1997 4Runner
