I guess running 87 obtain when I’ve spent $700 for minimal advantage would be useless

Not really. I found it to work well with the tune. It just matters how lively you want the pedal to be. Having it be nice and mellow earlier this winter was great. Since, I started missing the extra giddy up and switched back.

I want lively but let me ask this. Will it be much more lively than it is now with 87?

Yes! That torque surge that you feel at 3,500rpm will be filled in down to idle. So, even 87 will have more punch. A lot of folks are completely satisfied with the Base tune on 87.

There will be even more response to play with once the Perf and Tow tunes are released.

The fun is testing all the combinations to see what works for you.

Do y’all know if the 21s already have this update? I know my tranny is learning, and I probably won’t get this done before 1000-1500 miles. I just want to know if it’s something I even need to consider

Hey quick question. Inc you’ve Ben using OV for a hike is there a particular tun in the pack that would be gated mot towards just daily driving so I can get a little more oomph on the low side

All AT tunes are 2.0 Base right now. So, you only real choice is the Reg or Prem fuel ignition set points. All 2.0 tunes are Octane Learning, but you want to go with the fuel that you're most likely to use. High octane is going to give you more throttle repsonse.

    Another OVT quote:
I've used 87 for thousands of miles on the Prem tune. Just makes it more mellow. Still, way better than Stock though.

Oh I thought the 3.5 Tacoma tune pack had various preset tunes? I want to stick with 87 octane for now but want a bump in the low end. So no problems with running 87 on the premium tune?

This is the 04B33 Tune Pack. All are 2.0 Base with Reg / Prem options, tire size options, gearing options, and the Thx (enhanced throttle) option:

Since I’m stock it looks like the stock thx then. When you say mellow sine you run premium tune on 87 do you mean low end?

Compare non-thx to thx over a couple tanks. A lot of folks prefer non-thx.

Mellow throughout the rev range. Quite nice. As is the launch with high octane. It is an easy way to tune the response to your general mood.

I want more throttle response so the thx would be the one right?

Give it a shot, but be sure to try non-thx.

Well I did it. Flashed the regular stock thx. It was easy. Should I notice a significant difference immediately or is there a learning curve? Oh and I still baffled when I go to clear the DTC’s it says incomplete. Values and AT no problem.
