Look into a "Gazelle" Pop Up tent: They are quick to set up, and are made very well. We have using one for camping trips for over two years, and love it. It's been in serious rain storms, and even snow, and still we were dry as heck inside. We have the T4, but there is a smaller one called a T3X.

That's not bad at all! That 4 person tent is on sale for 270...considering a similar sized "normal" tent is about that same price, its a pretty solid deal. I may commit to sleeping in that and just getting a camper shell for the storage. I imagine a self inflating pad, a real pillow, and that thing I will be up and running in 2 minutes. How's it do in gusts? I tend to find myself in pretty exposed camp sites so the occasional 30-40 mph gust isn't out of the norm.

Edit: Any idea if that comes with stakes and guy lines? Looks like it does not?

This couldn't have been a more appropriately timed comment. We just hit "false spring" and waiting for this rain to turn into days of snow. Every year, its the biggest tease lol :(

Our Gazelle T4 tent has withstood some serious winds, but the thing to remember is that you must use the tie downs, and not just stake the tent into the ground. If you only use the stakes, the wind can blow a side in depending on the wind direction. Also, I highly recommend purchasing the footprint (a.k.a "groundcloth, to some) as well so as to further protect the bottom of your tent from water moving underneath in heavy rains where you have pitched the tent in less than ideal terrain (sloping), and for accidental punctures. I have seen many overland travelers use this tent in our travels, and so far, nobody has said a bad thing about them.

Looks promising. I have my eye on that smaller 3-4 person tent, since it looks like the t4 won't fit in the bed of a short bed tacoma.
