    That is 48" inside, the cross bars with the plastic end caps make it 48".

    Finally got around to install. It's a bit of work to get the screws through the side plates as the tolerance is just a little too perfect, other than that it was pretty darn straight forward. It's a very strong rack (I bought the Onyx) and it looks amazing. Very little wind noise, almost not noticeable even with the stereo off. Very happy with the purchase and the service from AL Offroad Products was above and beyond. Highly recommend this rack for anyone in the market. I've already had compliments from randoms out in the world and it's only been on for a day. Great product and great folks to buy from.
