On my old tacoma I added these crappy side stakes to allow me to hold more stuff in my old truck bed

Made it in like 10mins in a pinch when I needed them to transport some stuff ASAP.... but kept them on for like 10 months perfectly fine because of how useful they are....

    They allowed loads like this...

Problem is.... now I have a brand new tacoma, and it looks real nice... but alas, I need to transport a bunch of stuff.... the crappy wood sides are going back on my new tacoma. I will upload pics after for you all to laugh at.... but hey, if its stupid and it works, is it really stupid? functionality over fashion

I have a trailer, if you notice in the first pic it actually has a trailer behind it that is cropped out in the pic....

Sometimes it is not convenient to use, or is just much quicker/easier to not use it, or I am going to a place that would be hard to navigate it around, and sometimes Im doing something where I need to fill both the trailer AND the truck bed..... your next suggestion then may be a bigger trailer, but $0 scrap wood and some T-screws off Amazon were much cheaper and easier

The bungies and ropes 9 times out of 10 are for legal reasons and to make others on the road feel more comfortable.... I always load in a way that nothing is going anywhere even without rope or bungies, and I know this because I always put my hand on it and say "thats not going anywhere" and thus it must be true

Unfourtunetly no it was just a work model 2wd reg cab automatic. But it was a great truck that paid for itself many times over. Hoping my new one does the same

So having to worry about your frame rusting out or mice chewing your electrical wiring wasn't enough OP?

Nope, you had to add termites to the equation. Well played OP.

I have a ladder rack and love it. It makes hauling shit so much better. And at the end of the day it’s a truck and it’s meant to haul shit.

They are going on tomorrow.... I will upload the results. I may also ask for some suggestions on how to get the same result in a much less ugly way.

As far as added storage space per $ I don't think my sides can be beat.... I think the 4 t-nuts that go into the side rail system were $14 off Amazon and the washers/bolts/wood I already had for free.... Find me a more useful way to spend $14 and I'd be all over it
