I'm sure others have stated this before, but figured I would chip in my .02 as well.

My 19 auto recently got the newest TSB update for the ECU.

This made a significant difference to the drivability of the truck.

I recently did the 2.0 OVtune base tune, and honestly, the only main difference I can tell, is the flat spot on the low end has been removed. The shift points are almost unnoticeable from the newest TSB.

I do notice a muuuuuch smoother powerband under WOT, whereas before there were flat spots and spikes.

Honestly, I'm 100% convinced Toyota mimicked OVtunes shift tables and BOOM TSB was released. It's that similar.

Would I still get OVtunes again? I wouldn't say it was as magical of a difference as many have claimed, HOWEVER this is post newest TSB. Before the newest TSB... Yeah it would have been a massive difference. Actually having some low-end grunt is quite lovely, but that's mostly all your getting (respectfully) with a base tune.

The base 2.0 tunes were the starting point. What many have done, or built from, is a significant improvement for all model years.....and more to come!

I'm personally waiting on the Tune Pack for 04A72 ECU ID and Matt told me today "there is no expected date for release". Not sure if that correlates to the final version of OV Tune or not.

Not likely. I don't expect anything beyond 2.0 for a while. He's got his hands full, and with Toyota releasing new updates every few months, it keeps him from doing the "optional" tunes. That's my opinion anyways.

yeah I just updated to 04A72 so I’ll be ecstatic when I get the tune pack for that. Whether it’s the “final” version or not. I’ve heard the term “final” version about 6 times over the last two years so ‍who really knows

MT TPs are Final. They have been since last March.

That said, there are some patches that may come our way. Rev Hang fix, DFCO 1st gear fix, possibly TuneSwitching, and there was something about the exhaust valve timing / overlap. Maybe others that I can't remember?

About six months down the road will be the 2022s.

rev hang would definitely be much appreciated. I hate that so much lol makes me feel like my right foot is still on the gas somehow. I’m not sure what DFCO 1st means? Care to explain.

I think OVT said that a solution was found.

Deceleration Fuel Cut Off, when the injectors are cut off when you are coasting for more than a few seconds. For 2.0, DFCO was fixed in 2nd through 6th. You'll notice that the injectors do not cut in until very low revs. 1st was cockblocked by the antistall function, but was lowered from about 1,400rpm to about 1,200rpm which was noticeable and helpful to me. I don't know if anything else was done in the background, but the DFCO function seems less erratic now also?

Eagerly awaiting the VVT overlap update (for M/T), to see if it helps with the incessant surging in the 2000-3000 range.

Then you get this guy . Hay sir ov tune is base as base gets if you talk to the right people they can get you there own tried and true tested and proven tunes . What matt did with ov tune made it possible for people to make their own tunes. You want a throw you in your seat tune there out there you want a tow tune there out there . You just gotta ask the right people

I have managed to just about remove Rev hang during normal driving, i can repeatedly rev to 4k and shift without it hanging.

However, it was done through throttle manipulation. There is a point where if i push the throttle or the revs that it will come back.

For me, it is great, but it has some down sides to it as well.

I have been doing nothing but throttle manipulation lately, making minute changes in areas of interest.

To be fair, after a TSB when they've reset the learning parameters it can feel significantly improved. I know mine did after TSB-0092-20, but after a few hundred miles it pretty much reverts back to how it was. He'll probably learn that if he hasn't already; then he'll be glad he has the tune.

I am eagerly awaiting these, too. I can't find any useful info about the logic of the ECU at all, let alone throttle and shift stuff. There is some trial and error + common sense that yields pretty good results but I would like to know how it actually works so I know if there are unintended side effects.

The VFTuner team is absolutely swamped it seems. I'm not holding my breath on any webinar or even write ups anytime soon, but still looking forward to it or any info.

I followed all the steps, updated all drivers, turned off power savings and I am getting this error. It connects fine through techstream and I was able to clear all learning values and do the TSB updates. As soon as I hit "Calibrate ECM" the truck makes some sounds then nothing. Luckily it still starts, any suggestions?
