So i put my deposit down on my Tacoma 2 weeks ago. For a little over a month before ordering and now these 2 weeks since... it's all I think about. It's a mixture of excitement(I've wanted a Tacoma for over 5 years now) and stress of all the what ifs. I try to get my mind off of it, but I always circle back to thinking about some aspect of the truck. Worrying that the dealer will sell it from under me or something, thinking about mods.. it's all I do

    How do you cope?

No regrets, I'm thrilled to be getting it. Just worried about a switch, and not very patient as I wait for updates

I despise waiting, I won't order cars or build houses anymore.

You'll be fine, you have a great truck coming. I had to wait 3 weeks for my 16 and it was worth it. Keep reading up on Tacomaworld and plan out your first adventure!

Sold my 99 gmc pickup ( a bit earlier than intended) for more down payment. So we are down to a one car family for the time being.

Think lead time on the truck is bad? Might as well start ordering mods now so they have a chance of showing up by the time your truck aka starter's pkg is ready...

It’s not a platitude- deep breathes when you get really worked up. (Oxygen is the antidote for adrenaline.)

You have no control over a dealer screwing you over. Are you familiar with them? Can you build or deepen your relationship with them? You’re less likely to be screwed if they know you.

If you’re obsessing over mods, channel that energy into developing a documented plan for what you want to do. Start researching how these mods are done.

Are you a DYIer or are you going to pay for them to be installed, if it’s the latter, are you interested in developing new skills? What tools would you need? Do you need to stock up?

Is a second job a possibility if you need extra cash?

Keep busy otherwise. May’s just around the corner.

Update: called today to check in with the dealer in Hope's of an update. Nothing available, no build date or anything. The wait continues

    Ah-ha!

    You're a Dr.

So just focus on those patients.

But seriously. It's hard not to focus on changes in life.

Just keep in mind that in another year it will be just one of a bizillion used trucks with some bumps and bruises.

All the anticipation will be a faded memory.

So what is so special with your Tacoma that it had to be ordered? Most Toyota dealers are always stocked
    full of Tacoma's.

I ordered my truck in November of 2014 and it arrived in March of 2015 with zero updates in between. Literally it was "Don't know where the truck is" to "It's on the lot ready for you to finalize and pick up." I can get daily shipping updates on my Amazon packages, but a $32k truck? Naw.

I understand what you're going through. In fact, my dealership lost all paperwork of my purchase yet they still knew to hold it for me. I think you'll be fine, drink a beer and relax (if that's your thing). The only recommendation I can make is to research any modifications you'll actually utilize. I say this because I would love a lift, larger tires, and armor. Yet I know I won't properly use any of it so it's ultimately a waste of resources.

Thanks man, I hear you on the lift. I'd really like one as well just for the look, let alone the capability. But I just cant justify it for the reality of my use of the truck. That beer does sound nice
