That’s funny. We just moved here in October. My pups like to boat too. Took this tonight, had to take advantage of the weather.

Looks like you're in a tracker grizzly like I have, or something very similar anyway. Makes a great fishing boat.

    Oh hell yeah!

Here's my complete piece o' crap boat, a 1977 Bayliner Cascade 17.5". It has a Volvo AQ130 straight four with dual carb connected to a Volvo-Penta AQ280 sterndrive. The engine is from 70's 140 series Volvo station wagon, when I need to order engine parts I ask for a 1974 Volvo 142s.

I replaced the 45 year old spark plugs, ignition wires, points, gaskets, water pump, etc. I also had the carburetors rebuilt and the fluids gone through. It kinda runs. Overheats a little at full throttle, and it does leak quite a bit from the transom plate which I think is the u-joint bellow. Will get to fixing it eventually, but it's winter so it can wait.

    Unsinkable-II-4.jpg IMG_5684.jpg IMG_5634 2.jpg

I wasn't a huge fan of the stock seats, so I bought the entire interior from a 1989 Cadillac El Dorado Biarritz in Sandlewood to install in the boat. I still need to figure out the rear bench seat. The power seats are wired to the boat and do work!

I found a decent deal on a 9" Lowrance and figured I'd upgrade from my 7" Humminbird. A bit more money and now it's networked with my trolling motor and can do a lot more fun stuff. It even sends and receives text messages and calls when connected to my phone, which can also act as a second remote display if I want.

Now it just needs to get warm enough to get on the water.

Those seats are amazing :rofl:AND you got power to them... Brilliant!
The aq is in really good shape for its age. I have a aq140 myself (1980) which had only been on the lake for the 40 years prior to me getting it so it was also in tip top for its age. My Volvo car engine is a B21 for parts just be careful I’ve read a lot of people swapping out certain parts from car to boat without marinizing them first.
Did you swap out the points for an electric kit? If so which brand did you go?

I'm actually running the Volvo car fuel pump on my engine because the factory one went out. The marine version had a primer lever, a filter basket, and had threaded fittings as opposed to flared ones. I took it on the San Francisco Bay once and my new fuel pump was all rusty by the time I took it out because the auto version wasn't painted or corrosion resistant.

I just put some normal stock points in there from RockAuto, I wasn't aware electronic points were an upgrade. Does it make a big difference? I'd swap them out before I take the boat out again to see how it does. The thing has problems starting sometimes, but I attribute that to it being old and obsolete.

The AQ140 is the 6 cylinder version, right? The marine versions of the Volvo B engines are actually very valuable to the Volvo car community because they used different heads and cam/crankshafts designs which push more power. Since they didn't need to conform to car emissions regulations, Volvo bumped up the power output on the marine variants.

The electronic ignition swap replaced points. It’s an absolute game changer, and for less than 100 usd and a 10 minute install, it’s a no brainer. Starts and idles night and day difference. You’ll need to time it after install, but beyond that it’s virtually no maintenance compared to replacing points. Go with the pertronix ignition over hot sparx brand. It’s a little more expensive but the reviews are virtually flawless for our old Volvo motors.

My aq140 is a 4 cyl also, sips fuel.

Thanks! That's Lake Berryessa right outside Napa. The land leading up there was all burt up from the CZU Lightning Fires, houses and all.

I went there in November and it was like 80 degrees. I sent a pic to my friend in Michigan where it was freezing over and he was pissed.
