Can you lift a 4 cyl tacoma

I got a 2011 toyota tacoma double cab and i want to lift it but is it good to lift a 4 cyl

 

Plenty of lifted 4-cyls here. Is your truck a 5-lug or 6-lug?

 

Nah, they're too heavy. Maybe with some friends to help.

 

I think he was refering to the truck being heavy lol, like its gunna take more that one guy to physically lift it.

He didn't ask if it was easy...he asked if it was "good" to lift it.

That's being said, because they are so heavy (as you pointed out), it's probably a great feeling of accomplishment when you actualy do lift it off the ground.

So I'd say it's not goo to lift a 4-cyl...it's great


EDIT: Now I realize you were refering to the title of the thread...not the body of the first post. So we're both right! We rule.

 

Lifting it will technically increase wind resistance. That will be barely noticeable though.

If you are planning on adding bigger tires after lifting, that's where you get into increased rolling resistance, which will hog some power and MPG's.

That being said, plenty of people on here run 33's on 4_cyls without regearing.

 

To be honest, a lifted d-cab 4 banger would probably end up with verrryyyy slow acceleration (assuming you increase the tire size). They are already about 1000 LBS more than the single cabs, and I think my non-lifted single is a hair slow for my taste. If you are okay with that though, go for it!

People can tell you its slow all day long, but screw 'em, it's your ride!

 

I wasn't aware toyota made 4 cyl double cabs.

 

^ this, i think that the reg cab 4 cylinders are fine lifted, but i feel like the bigger tires along with the extra weight of a double cab might slow it down a bit IMO....but idk ive never driven in a 4cyl double cab so it might be fine

 

Had them in 1st gen, and brought them back for 2011.

Seems like they are having decent sales. I bet in the next gen of Taco they'll put in the more powerful (187 HP) 4 like they have in the Sienna as the standard option and you'll probably see a lot more people just sticking with it. Especially I think you'll see a lot more 4 banger access cabs. This set-up would be more power by 12 HP than the older 3.9 V6's in the 2nd gen Dakotas.

 

if anything they'll prob update the 2TR. the 2.7 in the sienna and highlanders (1AR-FE) is a different motor and is meant for transverse mount platforms.

 

I agree... Double cab is heavier than my regular cab, plus double cab 5lug comes only in automatic. That said, lifted with even 31's it would be super slow without re-gearing, now throw some 4.10 or 4.56 gears in the rear end and it should perform ok.

To the OP. I have lifted my 5lugger, put 31's on it and it is completely different truck, it actually looks cool, and thanks to the add a leaf i can put more cargo in the bed without the truck squatting too much, I don't regret it one bit!
