Keep in mind the 3rd Gen factory fogs mount with the one screw as well. It is 2 plastic tabs on one side, 1 screw on the opposite side. The KCs are nice, but they won’t melt/clear snow if that is a factor. If so you want the SS3 Pro.

The pocket fog design isn’t doing any favors, but if you make a cover it will also reduce the heat at the new lens and sticky snow will still stick. Going with the Pro or Max would resolve the issue.

The max is over priced for what I need. I'd rather clean off a flat surface than one with ridges and small crevices.

I think the Pros are the sweet spot for price vs performance vs self clearing of snow. Could always upgrade and sell the Sports to offset the cost.

To be honest they still performed well enough and if it's only a one time a year thing it's not a big deal.

I oddly disagree. Pros feel like a poor choice for anyone who can afford the max outside of flood use. I think most should buy sport or max. The max is a superior product. This isn’t a regular wear part. The difference over 10 years is negligible. Anyone truly cost constrained should go with sport.

Are the SS3 sports more hot than the KC's? IIRC, the yellow version of the SS3 Sport is more hot than the white?

Was looking at the sports mainly due to the sharper cutoffs and to minimize blinding.

this is more of a theoretical question, but for a performance/$ comparison,
what happens if we start combining multiples of the lower tier setups?

Example: would two pairs of $180 ($360 total) SS3 sports outperform a single pair ($500) SS3 max?
would a pair of sports + pair of pros ($180+$300=$480) outperform a single pair of maxes?

fyi, its not legal to run 2 pairs of fogs at the same time

theoretically yes it'll be brighter but y tho

If cost isn't an issue the Max is absolutely better, assuming you are not interested in 4000k, hence listing price in the previous comment. I was specifically considering fog in snow though, where the heat of the Pros is a major advantage over the Sports.

The SS3 Sports will run hotter than the KCs and yellow will do best to resist snow buildup, but if snow is a major concern going to the Pro or Max are significantly hotter. The KC reflector optics are extremely efficient and with the reflector design there is no forward heat on the KCs.

I have not tested the SSC2s yet, they are on a lengthy backorder. DD got a batch of SSC2 pod bodies that did not pass QC, causing further production delays.

I'm searching but not finding it. We have multiple confirmations that SS3 Sports do not melt snow which confirms crash's lab tests. Pros clock in at 170 degree lens temp per his review and though I haven't seen it posted recently I'll assume 170 is plenty good to melt snow even under severe conditions in the real world. Did we have a lens temp reading for the MAX with the selective yellow optics? If I dig it up I'll post it here.

See post #4420 for the yellow Max. Pod body at 211 degrees F and lens at 173 degrees F on the Max. I used a far more accurate FLIR on the Max vs an IR gun on the Pros. It appears I also forgot to note ambient temp on the Max. I expect the lens temp delta is a little bit more that these numbers reflect, while total power is similar the 6000k emitters on the Max with a darker amber optic have larger filtration losses resulting in greater lens heat. I believe the Max was also tested at ~15 minutes, when the Max does not stabilize in output temp till 30 minutes, hence the imperfect post.

Wouldn't Lux @ 150ft be much less than "measured output"?!?!

I would strongly caution taking anything seriously for these knockoff lights.

These pods are designed and produced by "cn360" in china, who is well-known as a copycat artist (along with Aurora, the other big player in the knockoff world). Lasfit does not do any kind of design or engineering, they only distribute imported LED products. Performance of these lamps will be, at best, on-par with units like offroadtown. They use run-of-the-mill LEDs, and standard 5-year-old optics. They are just your average Chinese pod that's dressed up to look like a Stage Series pod.

Yes, we are actively exploring our legal options in the matter. Aside from the product, they copied most of our marketing content - even using the same music as us for their product video. No shame at all.

The specs are clearly illegitimate. A flood light having 2636 lux at 150ft... It would appear they don't know what those values or terms mean.
